Hi all,

I thought I'd share a picture of the Basilisk I'm -attempting- to make from an old chimera base, that I wound up with, I'm not all that keen on troop transport and love the sight of some artillery on the field, so I let my creative instincts out and here it is.

This is the first picture I took, a few steps into building and the basilisk is slowly forming.

Its a long way off and feed back is appreciated!

Thanks
Ryan

Welcome to Dakka!

It looks like you're on the right lines, although it's kind of hard to see with such a tiny picture. If you host to the Dakka Gallery, I believe the pics will be resized for you, which might make it easier to see.

Thanks Paradigm!
And thanks for the tip about the gallery, makes life much easier!
I've updated the photo to a much better size

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Here are a few more I took today with another session put into it.

Added: The light, the front track armour, the dozer piece, some bits to the cannon and the railings at the rear.

I would very much like some feedback on the rear of the basilisk.

At the moment, the cannon is just flapping around and looks nothing like an actual basilisk. I need to create a piece that will allow it to be angled upwards in artillery mode and then be switched to being angled horizontal in assault mode.

As always, any advice, feedback or ideas are appreciated!

Looks good so far. Id suggest googling artillery pieces. Get an idea for what sort of furniture you find around the back of the cannon itself.. Loading breech, aiming equipment, ammo storage, and the mechanical angle adjustment apparatus.

How do you mean Zuul?

Well, some machine guns were designed to use a hopper type magazine not unlike ones seen on a paintball gun. Alternately the style seen on the old metal thudd guns might look cool.

Not looking too bad. I think, IMO, that it needs some tread covers behind the shield wall.

Maybe also a small ladder going off the back platform, like about 2-3 rungs worth.

Keep up the good work!

Right, managed to score an hour or so worth of modelling time (young child, job etc to contend with)
Made some small additions to it.

Added some more tread covers for you Gamesetc, and I had the ladder sitting around, just need to attach it.

A close up of the additions I made, nothing major. The tread covers weren't trimmed back in this photo. Added a small comms back pack to the platform. Did a bit of milliput work on the turret to cover up the holes/gaps. Just need to work on the mechanism to make the turret moveable. Then cover it up with some spare parts.

I've given it a quick black spray to bring everything so far together.

Any ideas on how I can add some tiny rivets to the track covers and shield?
I mean I could just paint them for a quick job, but I'd prefer them to look similar to be chimera base

Edit: found a method, pva glue! Just need to cover the thing with them now.
Decided to just make the earthshaker fixed now instead, will be much easier
