Subject: New to X-Wing, looking for a bit of Rebels advice

Hi all,
I'm looking to get started in X-Wing and have a few questions. First of all, I understand the basics of the game, as I play a crap-ton of Star Trek Attack Wing.
I'd really just like to start with a Rebel fleet (at 100 pts), then build Empire at a later date.
I looked at the ships and kinda picked the ones that looked cool to me and tried to put together a fleet idea based on "average" points cost. I can do the fine tuning when I get the ships and see the cards.
I pictured a fleet with 1 "heavy/tank" ship, 1 "fast/manueverable/hunter" ship, and 2 "mid-range/all purpose" ships.
So, I'm thinking 1 B-Wing, 1 A-Wing, and 2 X-Wings. Again, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this build and any suggestions you may have on actual pilots or equipment load outs.
Thanks so much,

Given what you are looking for, those are indeed the right ships. The B-Wing is a little funky to fly and super expensive, however, so you might want to start with Y-Wing instead if you want to run four ships.

Awesome, Thanks.
Is there much of a disadvantage to running three ships? Say an X, a B, and an A?
Honestly, I've always loved the B-Wing from RotJ. So I kinda wanted to make sure and include one. :-)

Three-ship builds are perfectly fine for the rebels, however they tend to feature a combination of Bs and Xs. Both of these have a good combination of firepower and toughness.
Y-wings are tough but don't really output enough damage, and A-wings are very manoeuvrable but lack in both the toughness and firepower stakes. You'd generally see Ys and As in four or five ship builds.
That said, these are only trends - y all means try it out and see what happens! At the very least, you'll have some top ace pilots in any three-ship build...
I'm also a B-wing fan, and am looking forward to getting my second as soon as Rebel Aces appears

Just go to this site:
http://xwing-builder.co.uk/build
It lists ALL the ships and pilots with all the (valid) upgrade/option cards you want.
Pay close attention to cards that look good to you and it lists what booster packs they appear in.
That should give you some strategy of what you feel are a must to get.
Sound good?

Based on what you are looking for, keep an eye out for Rebel Aces coming out soon; it will be adding a lot of options for both A's and B's.

Thanks all! I think I'll pick up a few ships now and play some games. Then keep an eye out for the rebel aces expansion.

I play the rebels every now and then, and my daughter plays them most of the time, seeing as how I play the empire. Anyway, you can't go wrong with 4 x-wings at 100 points. It stands up well to alot of other lists.
