+++I found the optimal place to charge, only 2 in kill zone+++

Just curious if you maneuvered for this pre-charge, or if you charged to there...'cause you have no choice as to where you actually charge once you declare one.

I maneuvered in the movement and fleet phases, must charge the nearest model once in the assualt phase.

Was rather nice, only 2 Pfists in the squad and I managed to get 1 into the kill zone.
It actually looked like the only 2 models in the kill zone would be the chaplain and the fist marine but it turns out 1 normal DC marine was in there aswell. Ohwell, killed them both.

Good reports. Any chance you can get an army list for the player that won the tourny?

I'm curious as to a couple of things:

1) Why don't you take one Zoanthrope with Scream/Synapse for Escalation missions?
2) What happened to the 4 Screams/Shadow in the Warp idea? Why did you choose to go with 5 Screams instead?

Winners list.

1: I guess I am just too greedy
Might have to consider it next time though, though had I been any smarter I could have hidden the zoans behind terrain on either flank, though they would still have been out of synapse all game as that was not where the tyrants where going, they where headed straight for the objective.

Also I don't really think that 1 synapse zoan will do much difference, it will just be the first to die, sure it means 1 extra lascannon shot before this happens but hardly a big deal, and I am normally satisfied with the gaunts not moving untill the tyrant arrives anyway.

It is worth a thought but I don't think I really want to drop a blast for it. It did take both of the zoans that came on against the chaos player to instakill that demon prince, had 1 of them not had the warp blast that game could have been very different.

As for the 2nd quistion, someone actually did the math on 4 screams and shadows and 5 screams.

While the scream/shadow combo was much more effective (35% chance to succeed or something along these lines) than the 5 scream (45% chance) it is only in effect half the time due to the eldar runes or stones or something so ultimately I decided to go with 5 screams.

I am really glad I did because the -3 from 3 screams I had in range of the council when they started to run came from 1 zoand and 2 tyrants. Again had I gone the other way the game would have been very different (though I was actually counting on me having to assualt the council before they would run, was rather surprised they ran from the shooting I put at them.

Good report.

It was a tough *donkey*tournament. My marines are still desperately full of cool toys. I need to shave the fat to be able to compete. It was fun seeing the Nids totall own the day, with so many people here having complained that Tyranids got weaker with the new Dex.

Very entertaining report. I loved the 'Iron Fex' from the last game. 18 saved wounds and no wounds taken. Very cool. Pity the 1-wound Tyrant got taken out. He did pretty well to come out of that firestorm alive and then take out 2 Librarians in HTH.

Well I did have to wonder whether that tank was out like that so close to my army to trap me into sending the tyrant in or if it was an accident, he was hiding the speeders, waiting for good times to strike and that tyrant definately gave them one.

I was however betting on the tyrant surviving.

I was just looking at the overall winner's list and frankly I'm quite shocked he did that well. I'm guessing he's a really good player (and maybe got some good match-ups), because personally I think that your list is much better than his.

I talked to him a little, he said he had some easier matchups earlier but he did manage a minor win 13/12 or something against the other nids in the final game, apparantly it was the first time he was playing tyranids so he must have been doing something right!

He went up against my mate Toms eldar but with escalation in play and bad reserve rolls even Tom lost 20/0 to him.

Still I was glad to have come up against so many good players, I was rather surprised I did not do better in the last game though.

Excellent report. I wish someone around here would try to run that sort of list so I could play against it. Seems very interesting.
