I know nearly nothing about this game other than 10 minutes of reading this forum, but i'm going to drop 2 bills on it Saturday.

How long does a 100pt game usually take to play?

It can take anywhere from 45 minutes to a bit more than an hour in general. Some of my earliest games were closer to an hour and a half, but that was because of learning/teaching the rules and taking the time to unwind turns where we had flubbed.

Yes, this game is refreshing compared to GW on so many levels. Quick to learn, has depth that keeps you interested. Pre Painted Minis!!!!!!! Cant stress that enough. Cheap too. For what you are looking to spend, you can get quit a lot. Compare that to 40K, well, you can almost play a four hundred point game, that will take two hours.

Not to mention really only one rule book , $200 is the 40K main book set, a codex and a supplement, not much left over to buy minis or paint.

Ugh I know right? It's just gotten worse since the damnable move to hardcover codices. X-Wing & Infinity have replaced 40k for me now due to time, space, & $ requirements needed to play.

My friend and i set 1 hour time limits on games, so we usually get 2 games in, on any given night. This is because if you go to local tournaments, they have 1 hour time limits.

Sometimes we play the same list twice, or swap army.

If you're new to the game, a 100-point battle could easily take 2 hours. The official tournament round is 75 minutes, and many of those games end with ships still on the table rather than a complete destruction of one side. Generally, I think you should be prepared to spend 90 minutes or more.
