So, working on a 2000 point Astra Militarum list to combat a Tau list. Assuming 2 Riptides and several RailSides. The point of this is to let you guys have a direct day in this list building process! I'm looking for a TAC list, preferably bound, and not using FW, Stronghold Assault, Escalation or allied detachments aside from SM. Whenever you're ready, GO!

HQ- Pask in punisher with Lascannon, multimeltas
Vanquisher with lascannon

Troops- Veteran squad
Demolitions doctrine, 2 plasma guns, meltagun in either:
Valkyrie with missie pods (may as well use aircraft as a dual purpose unit) /Chimera with heavy bolter (stronger, has fire points)

Heavyy Support- 2 wyverns
2 wyverns

Best anti-tau is a combination of tarpits (conscript blobs with commissars) and armour. Going infantry to infantry you will lose. You want lots of high strength low AP to insta-kill battlesuits with some decent armour

Against Tau? Assuming no flyers:

Pask in punisher (You're guard - you will be actually handicapping yourself without him)
Lascannon, multimeltas
Vanquisher
Lascannon

Veteran squad
Demolitions doctrine, 3 plasma guns (excellent against suits and MCs)
Taurox (its going to go bang against Tau anyway - may as well save 15pts)

Veteran squad
Demolitions doctrine, 3 plasma guns
Taurox

3 wyverns (anti pathfinder, fire warriors, kroot or even good against suits)

2 wyverns (need two units just to make sure you get rid of those markerlights asap)

Deathstrike (hide it behind LoS blocking cover and the tau will come to you - otherwise their traditional parking lot will be toast, if they deepstrike their suits to deal with it, those suits aren't killing pask or your wyverns).

Allies:
White Scars (for bikes), Imperial fists (for tank hunting devestators) or Iron Hands (for IWND CM and fnp all round). You pick.

Chapter master (hunts riptides and suits)
Shield eternal, bike, artificier armour, thunderhammer

5 man bike squad (troops) (good against suits and riptides)
2 grav, 1 combi-grav

5 scouts (backfield scoring)
Snipers

5 man bike squad (fast attack)
2 grav, 1 combi-grav

5 devestators (despite having 11 bikes I would pick IF CT just for tank hunter with these against the railsides).

I like your list, Poly Ranger, but I won't take completely from it. I'll take the Pask Punisher and Vanquisher, one Vet squad, and 3/4 Wyverns. With regards to Marines, I can't stand bike armies, I'm sorry! Just hate the aesthetic and logic of them.

Just imo, wyverns work very well against infantry. Tanks work very well against their tough stuff.

How would a backfield 30/40 man Infantry platoon with autocannon spam fare? Bad? Good?
