So I have a AM army that has CCS with attached Lord Commissar. The problem being is that my CCS is the Guant's Ghosts squad and there are no rules that I can fine to use them the way they should be. Because of this my Coronel Commissar Gaunt model can not be my Warlord (Lord Commissar has chain of command special rule that pushes leadership to the senior officer in the CCS) So I was wondering if it would be possible to maybe use Commissar Yarrik character sheet with my unique Guant model to achieve my Commissar warlord goal?

I don't think you're going to get any complaints about using a different commissar model to represent Yarrick.

I generally agree. It's a question of how many things I have to remember as your opponent. That model is Yarrick=easy. If you throw in two or three more similar commissars and try to make me remember=a bit harder.

I was just wondering what the general consensus was, because I had the manager at my local GW store lean into a player for wanting to use a proxy. But by the way it sounded he tried to proxy a lot of different rules and models over the last few games and I didn't know what most people thought of it.

That's been talked about at length on this forum, you can probably search up an old thread. Players tend to separate into two categories, proxy and counts-as. You are using one commissar to be another; this is counts-as. The models are very similar and/or you are using a custom conversion. Proxy is using a solo cup as a drop pod, or raptors as sternguard. It's useful for trying out a new army before you commit to the modeling.

GW is in the business of selling models. Proxy games look bad on the table, and are a short cut to making purchases. Neither of these things are in a GW store managers best interest. As a player, I recommend you default to making your opponent feel comfortable in friendly games. I would be happy to play you using Gaunt as Yarick. If the rest of your army is made of tyrannid or necron proxies, I'd likely decline the game.
