So I was trying to think of a way to get a super elite detachment for my Inquisitor. I bought my Inquisitor with a decent pile of Grey Knights, which I considered using, but I decided against it. My Inquisitor is Ordo Xenos and it felt wrong to try and make Grey Knights the support unit. So, I sold my grey knights for $170.
What I sold:
17 pewter halberd knights
5 pewter incinerator knights
4 pewter psycannon knights
1 pewter Stern
10 NOS Strike Force Grey Knights
So for my project I bought the following:
1 Tactical Squad (actually had this laying around)
1 Sternguard kit
1 Vanguard kit
2 GW Deathwatch conversion kits
I then picked up the following conversion bits from leth:
1x Black Templar Body
2x backpack
2x black templar bolt gun arms
2x black templar shoulderpads
2x blood angel backpack
2x blood angel shoulderpad
1x Blood Angel Body front
2x Crimson Fist Shoulderpad
2x Crimson Fist Backpack
1x Soul Drinkers Shoulderpad
2x Imperial Fist Shoulder Pads
2x red scorpion Shoulderpads
1x Salamanders Shoulderpads
1x astral claws shoulderpad
2x Minotaurs Shoulderpad
2x White Scars shoulderpad
2x Ultra Marine Shoulderpads
2x raven guard bolter
2x raven gurd backpack
4x Iron Hands Shoulderpads
2x space wolf, wolf cloak back
2x space wolf shoulderpad
Tons of great shoulder bits, including some Forge World. Combined with a couple of the Dark Angel and Black Templar ones I already have, it will make for a nice go (I have several running legs for assault marines I will use too). I will be able to do the full deathwatch formation from the Damnos (2 units of stern guard or vanguard with a captain) which has nice rules (preferred enemy against one xenon race).
So my plan is to do 9 bolted marines and a Sternguard heavy bolter per squad. I am going hyper nerdy here and naming each one. Looking forward to painting the different chapter shoulders too.
Only issue I am trying to sort out is how to paint them. I had thought the tradition was all black armor and the chapter shoulder on the right. But the RP game has fleshed things out for Deathwatch and now they are using all silver for the left arm, silver for the aqualia on the chest, and red on the guns, which looks fine really. I will likely do that. Seems like it will be cool, though the silver arm seems a little silly to me.
We will see. I am looking at the end of next week for all of the materials to arrive. I will then be playing the gak out of Destiny, but plan on assembling the marines over the following two weeks and priming them. I will then get to painting. Hopefully by the end of October these will be done. I'll keep track of them as I go!

First set of ten. Couple areas to touch up, but this is the final style I will shot for.
Crappy iphone pics:
Rather pleased with how they turned out. Does the black armor look okay? Too little or too much shading?

Yup, crappy phone pics but seemingly awesome marines. I'd love to see them in a better light.

They look really good.
Why is the Sergeant(?) wearing a bright blue cloak though?

He is from my homegrown chapter. The veterans use dark angel veteran bodies. I am looking into modifying it. ON a white armored model it looks fine, but it is a little stark on black.
I'll probably dull it down and have only the bright blue as an extreme highlight.
