Hello, never played the game but always thought it looked fun. Looking for some casual newbie friendly games in orlando fl who won't mind teaching a new player. Ideally would like to find a good group who play fairly regularly to join up with. Thanks in advance.

Hey, awesome, I'm also in Orlando and new to the game. I've been a warhammer hobbyist for years, but just modeling and painting, never played the actual game(s). Once I get my basic army put together I'd be happy to play some games with you, Millstone, maybe we can learn together? And Rryannn, thanks for the heads up on Mini Duels, I hope to see you there sometime!

Depending on your location Coliseum of Comics might be a good place for you http://coliseumofcomics.com/ I know the Fashion Square Mall location runs games every Saturday or you could always try and set up a game on any day they have open tables.

I travelled to Orlando a couple of times to meet some folks / play in 40k tournaments. I believe the Venue was Sci-Fi City, which has a ton of gaming tables. You can find their website at:
http://www.sci-fi-city.com/orlando.htm
There's also a 40k community "Adeptus Orlandicus" at http://orlando40k.fr.yuku.com/.
If Dakka User "Mahu" is still around, he's from Orlando, and is a great contact for the 40k group there.
There's also a bunch of Orlando Dakkanauts posting in this thread
Hope it helps!
*edit*
Oh! You can also go to "Player Finder" at the top, and send out a message to every registered Dakkanaut from Orlando, and see if you can get in touch with them.

Unfortunately it seems like Orlando is experiencing some darker times these days where game stores are concerned. Amorous Armadillo has closed, Phoenix has either closed or moved to Clermont (not sure), and Sci Fi City, the former Mecca of the hobby, has now moved across the street to a much, much smaller free-standing building with pathetically dim light and very poor Warhammer stock. It was so dark in there I could barely see what was for sale on the shelves (but there was almost nothing anyway), let alone imagine myself ever playing an enjoyable game of 40K there. So it looks like the only option for me is going to be the GW store in Altamonte, Paladin Tech in UCF area, or CoC way down south in Kissimmee (much further than I would ever want to drive). I really wish I had gotten into the tabletop scene back when Sci Fi City was in its prime... :(

I'd disagree with the above statement. We've gained Mini Duels, which is a fantastic store run by some fantastic people, offering a nice discount on some their products in order to keep competitive with the online crowd. They just moved into an even larger store so their stock will only grow, as will the tables available.

I have not been to Mini Duels yet, so I definitely look forward to checking that out and hopefully that will become my new go-to place. Still, have you been to Sci-Fi City lately? Compared to its former glory, seeing what it has become was incredibly depressing...

Does anyone know of anything going on the weekend of the 19th and 20th? I'll be in town for the weekend from Boston and I'll be bringing my Nids with me, wouldn't mind getting a game in whilst I'm down there!
