Subject: The Sky is Blue, the Pen is Blue, Capcom is up for grabs.
In other news today, Capcom has put itself up for "Sale". Not so much, but rather has opened up stocks allowing itself to be bought out if someone like EA decides to buy most of those stocks.
Did anyone really not see this coming? Cancelling requested games out of spite, releasing the same game every six months with barely new content, and general dickatry will do that to a company.

Likewise. Zero and ZX are the best parts of the series.

Dear god, it's almost like pretending its still 1995 hasn't worked out as a business strategy. /Activate Sarcasm. I totally did not see this coming and am completely shocked.

It's been what, 10 years since the last proper Breath of Fire game? If we're talking about breathing new life into dead series that's one I'd like to see.

I said this last time this came up, but buyer beware! Everyone knows that the first people to buy Capcom will be disappointed when Super Capcom gets put up for sale in 6 months time, and the group that buys Super Capcom will be equally as burned when Super Capcom Ultra comes out 6 months after that.
And all of them will be really annoyed when they find out that various rooms throughout the Capcom offices are locked and they have to buy additional keys to those rooms from the original Capcom owners, even though the rooms are already in the building.
But in all (wishlist-y) seriousness, I want WB Interactive to buy them. Yes, WB Interactive is one of the bad companies, cutting out and walling off content behind pay-walls and putting out needless DLC, but in the grand scheme of things they're a "me too" company, copying the professional scumbags at EA and Ubisoft. They're the diet coke of consumer unfriendliness. BUT, WBi own Netherealm Studios. Netherealm make Mortal Kombat. If WBi buy Capcom that means...
Street Fighter vs Mortal Kombat!

Exalt.
Given that they clearly don't know how DLC works (which is just sad) whose to say they don't know how to sell their own company either
I remember playing RE6 right after it came out and my chief complaint wasn't even that the game was bland, it's that they literally hadn't changed anything about the game mechanics of that series since RE4. And that just describes Capcom in a bubble. A company completely incapable of staying with the times on things as basic as autoloot, and who constantly shuts down their own cash crops.
Clover Studios. Megaman. They pretty much sabotaged DMC. Capcom is the poster child for out of touch with their own market XD

I think if they had handled DMC better, it wouldn't have been so bad; DmC was actually a pretty good game, but trying to tell everyone that it was that much better than DMC is just bad business. Would have been highly successful as a spinoff instead of a reboot.

My issue with the latest DMC is that it just didn't feel like DMC. All the bits and pieces were there but the soul was just absent entirely. I'll actually give them props even for mocking the 'Dante doesn't look like Dante' thing. That bit was pretty funny, but it's not even about Dante looking like a douche anymore, it's just that the game wasn't DMC.
I think the problem with DmC is that they didn't need to alienate the existing fans. From all accounts it's actually a pretty good game, but there's a heavy aura of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" about the whole thing.
Part of me wonders if the sale will fail and we'll instead see their assets sold separately ala THQ.
Sega or Nintendo might be able to do something with Megaman, as its the kind of game up both their allys. As much as it pains me to say it, Ubisoft could probably put out a decent DMC game. And Monster Hunters has EA written all over it. Square could probably do several of their IP's justice, namely Breath of Fire and Okami. Someone out there naturally needs to put out more Viewtiful Joe.
Resident Evil can die in a fire. Let's just start selling Biohazard games.

The feeling I have is that would actually end very poorly. So many of these franchises have been mismanaged for so long, I don't know if anyone of ability would want to bid on them. Like I do not see Nintendo picking up Megaman. I imagine most of their properties just being bought on the cheap or not even being bought. Like I really doubt anyone would want to buy up dragons dogma for a new game. : (

Having never played a Devil May Cry game before I liked it enough for the combat. The characters and story were dreadful to the point of being repulsive at points. It was functional and I had fun but I probably wouldn't go recommending it.
I will say if nothing else, it had some of the most hilariously atrocious writing I've ever seen in a game:
Like they paid people real, actual, go-out-and-buy-food-with-it money to record those lines.Somebody got paid to write that.

What?! Don't you remember the SNES SF2 Super Hyper Ultra Deluxe '95 Extreme Power Full Force Brutal Dragon edition's taunts after a fight? Top-notch, good sir, TOP. NOTCH.

Oh my...it's like it was written by a 16 year old...and going by the new Dante, I wouldn't be surprised if they did get a 16 year old to help design the game.

I can't say I'm surprised. Capcom has some excellent game franchises to its name but a lot of their decisions have been pretty stupid in recent years. The DMC revamp was completely unnecessary. They also relied too much on their older titles to keep them afloat such as Marvel vs Capcom and Street Fighter.
How much do you wanna bet it gets EA-ten?
