Hi everyone, my names Col and I've always loved the warhammer 40,000 background and models ever since and before my son enjoyed this ten years ago. I'm always pottering about with the few starter boxes I bought over the years mcCragg, black reach and earlier, even toying with the idea of making a gaming table, even though I'm not a gamer I love the idea of having a large diorama.
I have a number of models of tyranids like the trygon and carnifex and hive tyrant which I'd like to make with wings, also a drop pod and a storm talon gunship as well as a couple of others. My problem is I'm worried about mucking them up when trying to paint them so it stops me trying.
Hopefully getting tips and ideas on here will get me going on them, great site too which I'm browsing through. Thanks all.

Welcome from another (very) oldie.

Painting is good, don't let some of the quality figures in the gallery scare you! I know they scared me.

Welcome though.

There is not this idea.

Hi, welcome!

I really enjoy painting, and I'm quite bad at it, and I say don't let the possibility of mistakes put you off. The nice thing about painting is that mistakes are very easy to fix!

Thanks ToasterOven, I'm off work after my shift tomorrow night for a while and plan to get something done. I'll post my progress here.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Welcome! I am not the greatest painters, however you can watch some youtube videos ( a lot are posted in forum) and give you idea how to go about starting off. I wish they had this forum around when i first started so my armies would have been a lot better. Yeah dont let the paint jobs here put you off from painting. I been painting since 1990 and my figures are always a work in progress and learning .

Thanks guys, I've been doing what you suggest and found loads to look at. But why is it you can't find specific models and colours that I want to brush paint, always seem to be spray guns which I don't have?

Hey hows it going, welcome to DAKKA!

The wolves go for the throat.
We go for the eyes.
Then the tongue.
Then the hands.
Then the feet
Then we skin the crippled remains.
