Subject: cheap zone mortalis?

so i want to play some games of zone mortalis, but the kit is very expensive.
I think I can make the walls easily out of foamcore, but the pillars at corners are what's making me stop and ponder.
I want to find something cheap to make the pillars out of, preferably already square so I don't have to cut out the sides and stick each one together accurately. ideal things would be the like of food packaging, general household recyclables. that sort of thing.
I can't think of anything. they look about 1.5" square by 4" tall, by my estimations.
Anyone got any ideas on something around that size?

Look at tubs of sandwich fillings, they are usually square with rounded corners. Different shops have slight variations in size, and you would probably need to stack them to get the right height. Small tubs of coleslaw & potato salad are often square as well.
I've had good results with tightly stuffing flimsier plastic containers with newspaper. It reduces the squash factor tremendously.

I am not a wargamer, nor do I play one on television.

Amazon also has some great cheap columns...you can get them in 3, 5, or 7 inch heights around $1.50 a piece (1 £ each approx).

2" insulation cut in 2" strips. The actual ones are on a 2 by 2 base. You will notice the tiles are 12"x 12" and have a 6x6 grid. In fact 2" pink or blue insulation, available at most hardware stores, is perfect for making walls. For height just measure a dreadnaught and go a bit more
Personally, based on the rules for ZM you can use any dimension for the walls as log as you are somewhat consistent.
