I play X-wing pretty casually. I have two starter sets, an Imperial Aces set, a TiE Expansion and an X-Wing expansion. It's enough to bring two forces down to my FLGS to play against someone else when we don't feel like playing 40k. There's only 1 other guy who has the game down at the store too btw, so it's mainly me bringing the models for myself and an opponent to play. What I was wondering was if the Rebel Transport is a genuinely fun to the game, and how big/what kind of a force you need to field for both Rebels and Imperials to make it a good game? I understand that you need to bring a higher point total to the game? Like 200-300 points? Are there any 'necessary' expansions I should also look at that work well with the Rebel Transport for either the Rebels or the Imperials?

I would hold off on the Rebel Transport, especially if you are playing casually. It is definitely for higher point total games.

I would concentrate more on building up your forces, especially if you're buying models for both factions.

On the other hand, I have a rebel transport for trade.

I do have to say it's easier to get a lot out of than the Tantive, as its support abilities can be extremely useful.

You can also play the scenarios, and use it as terrain.

But, if you don't have enough to play an epic game, you should hold off until you can.

I thoroughly enjoyed the game we played with it. However I made house rules to give it target lock & a title card that lets it replace 1 cargo with a missile & 1 crew with a cannon in a 360 mount. Built a custom model & played it as the imperial freighter suprosa. Damn thing ran over wedge, Horton, & a blue pilot before I finally killed it. My opponent chose assault missiles & autoblasters so it didn't do much damage shooting lol.
