Freaky Flayed One

Hey guys, I'm just getting started with WHFB, and I got a good deal on the book plus a battalion. I was curious as to how i should assembled the ogres for best use in my army. Pretty sure the ironguts and leadbelchers are pretty straight forward, just curious about how to kit out my normal dudes. Any advice is greatly appreciated

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

Regular Ogres should always have Ironfists.

Ironfists increase the defensive capability of the entire unit, but XHW only increase the damage output of the front row of guys. Having a 5+ armor and 6+ parry is night and day from only having a 6+ armor.

If you want to save a little money, you can easily assemble two of the bodies meant for Leadbeltchers into a Slaughtermaster and a Bruiser BSB instead. There are plenty of bits in the box for that. If you also have a couple other kits its even easier.

After that, you'll want a Butcher, 2 Ironblasters and 2 boxes of Mournfangs and at least 2 Sabretusks. Thats the core of any ogre army.

A 2nd Battalion at this stage wouldn't be a bad idea either.

As for other stuff in the book, the only bad stuff are Yhetees, all the special characters besides Scragg the Slaughterer(and then you need to be a little more experienced to use him), and Hunters.

Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.
