I'm a bit behind on the HH books and I just finished SoV today.
My apologies if this has been covered already, but my quick search didn't turn up any results.
Spoiler:
1) Horus took a Knight's lance full on and lived and was surprised. I assume chaos saved him?
2) When he entered the gateway and did what the Emp did. The Emp was a powerful psyker and a perpetual. I don't think Horus is either of those. So, does that mean Horus has fewer advantages and was able to do the same thing as the Emp?
3) How many perpetuals are out there?
It's made pretty clear chaos saved him. with the posessed fighting alongside him taking action to save him. in table top terms a posessed made a "look our sir" roll
