Seems like it would be a fun rule to have. Each race could have a different reason but crashing your own plane into a unit seems like it could have its uses. Does anyone think this is an ok rule?

For the guy who leaves it all on the field (because he doesn't pick up after the game).

But the imperium could be like, "for the emperor" and dive bomb, or the tau, "ethereal control" stuff like that...

Your pilot will have to pass ld check on a heroic ld to do that Unless it's orkses or helturkey.

Orks already need a heroic ld to do that. Admittedly, if they fail they still drop a huge bomb on their target.

Orkses don't do it on purpose, so it's technically not a ld check =)

It's available as an ace pilot skill thing out of Crusade of Fire, actually. Orks and Space Wolves can ram with flyers, off the top of my head.

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

Empire
"Son, why do you want to go crashing that plane that cost two million credits into some dumb Tau's devilfish? Don't you think shooting it would be better? And if yer out of ammo, go back to the carrier and GET SOME MORE!"

Ork
"Ere we go!" - leadership test result of a 2.

Tau
"For the Greater Good!" - they seem to be based on the Japanese, so "kamikaze" attacks don't seem out of line, but they should probably make leadership checks to do it, possibly only if they're down to their last hull point.

Necron
"By your command" - have the general make a Ld check to override the ship's/pilot's control to crash into an enemy.

It never ends well

Looking through Death from the Skies earlier.

Orks Special Maneuvers:

Bash 'Em: Lose a Hull Point, nominated enemy Flyer suffers D3 Penetrating Hits.

Smash 'Em: Down to your last Hull Point? Place a large blast marker next your base. Units suffer one hit per model under. Flyer is removed as a casualty.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

Yeah. This could be fun. Maybe generalizing the rule though instead of different effects for different armies (except for maybe the LD tests).
