Am trying to replace the Imperial Guard Vehicles with more Soviet/Russian tanks/APC/IFV/SPG so on and so on, I have seen a few posts using more german/british.american tanks but have been wondering if anyone has done a conversion for it.

Also my army is based more or less on Valhalla (soviet) imperial regiment!

How much are you looking to spend, first and foremost?

There are a number of very interesting and unique forge world kits that in my personal opinion look different enough from a standard GW kit to be unique, but at the same time are the same basic size/footprint on the table.

For example:

The Armageddon Pattern Basilisk:

With the armored crew compartment, it looks more Valhallan to me.

Secondly, the Artemia Pattern Hellhound is a neat looking version as well:

Lastly, you have the Mars Alpha Pattern Leman Russes:

Which come in all the varieties of Leman Russ you could choose to field.

If you're looking for Non GW models, just google alternate leman russ models and that should get you started. Be sure to try and keep the basic footprint of the model (it's dimensions) as close to the same as the GW Leman Russ Kit.

Hope that helps

Take it easy for now, and also, speaking as a fellow player of an all metal I.G. Regiment (Vostroyans!), it's nice to see a fellow guard player using one of the less common regiments.

You don't know me son, so I'll explain this to you once: If I ever kill you, you'll be awake, you'll be facing me, and you'll be armed.

There nice models, but don't really fit in with my fluff, for example I have converted one of my hydras to look like a shilka, using the baneblade turret, (still in progress), and am planning to make my basilisks either like the Su 14 2 or the Su 152, my leman russes as KV 1/ 2 or IS 2, and my chimeras as BMP or something.

Have looked at a few conversions and the like but again done using more western tank models.

Also AWESOME, I have only met a few Guard players, and there all Cadians, but Voystroyans are AWESOME so yeh, also by any chance are you also on steam with the same username?

I'll send you a PM with my Steam account name.

Also, if you're into conversions and don't mind an extensive amount of work (and have a LOT of discretionary funds to use!), you can do what this one Vostroyan player did, who is pretty much my idol.

Were I possessing infinite money to pay someone to make them for me, I would have all my Leman Russes look like this:

As you can see, it's a pretty extensive conversion/change to the standard Leman Russ, but it looks *amazing*.

Another couple of examples of a different conversion that looks almost as good:

Hope that helps, and be on the look out for a PM with my steam info.

Take it easy for now.

As far as different IG vehicles go, one good alternate for chimeras is the LAV-R. It works well for wysiwyg as it's got the turret, a spot for a hull gun, back hatch, and top hatch.

all those tanks are versions of a tank from epic called a 'Ragnarok'

Images, top to bottom:
Dave Taylor: see his blog, dave taylor minatures, or something like that

Devlain : http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/user/profile/6370.page

Tinners: he has a number of threads on Warseer and the ammobunker, that is one of his earlier ragnaroks

There are also a few tanks, certain talented individuals have made on Dakka if you search the gallery: http://www.dakkadakka.com/core/gallery-search.jsp?dq=ragnarok

Hope that helps

Ratgard Miniatures does an upgrade kit to make Chimeras look more like Russian BMPs.

They're much newer than KV tanks but they still might fit the Russian theme you're looking for.

(their website seems to be down at the moment otherwise I'd post a link for you)
