Hi all. Recently there was a thread about 15mm covenant, and it really got my gears turning... But I know I still won't be able to talk my friends into yet ANOTHER game and rule set... We do play drop zone commander though, and while figuring rules for the covenant would be pretty tricky, I do think I could make this all come together nicely in the end. In other words, not concerned with rules nearly so much as models.

I'm not afraid to scratchbuild/kitbash/whatever to make stuff work (much more so for vehicles than infantry, but ill take what i can get) but I really don't know where to even begin to look for 10mm models that would be nice stand-ins for some of the most notable UNSC or especially covenant units.

From DZC, I do think the UCM infantry already covers UNSC Marines quite nicely, ravens could be converted somewhat easily to pelicans if there isn't a better alternative, sabers could be scorpions with some heavy modification. I'd probably just make up an AA variant of the scorpion for rapiers since AA is such an essential part of the game, and I'm also still debating if wolverines should be warthogs or the ATVs (AND still need a model!) So, at the very worst, with a ton of modification, I can get the UNSC mostly covered, though I'm open to any better ideas you guys might have.

But by far the most important though, is a Spartan! Does anyone know of a good 10mm Spartan looking model? I was considering a few 15mm ones, since they're larger than normal Marines anyway, but im afraid it will still be way TOO large

Next is covenant, and I'm in MUCH worse shape with them...

I need models for grunts, elites, ghosts, wraiths, dropships, brutes, jackals, you name it, I need it. Not to mention the biggest, baddest mofo around, the scarab

Again, all I need is something close enough to them, I'm not afraid to use a little greenstuff

I don't know if they're "good" but DP9 makes a bunch of 12mm infantry that you may want to check out for their Heavy Gear line. At 12mm, they're a bit bigger than 10mm theoretically but I haven't seen them side by side ever with DZC infantry in the same pic. The northern and Paxton/PRDF ones are new digital sculpts.

I'd hold off on the DP9 stuff until their own recent shakeup settles down unless you find the models cheap on ebay. At 12mm they'd make okay spartan standins. 10mm is a bit more of a niche scale for sci fi, even among niche scales. It's a weird place between 6mm and 15mm.

I'd take a look at some of Spartan Games stuff. Planetfalls in 10mm and some of the factions may fit what you want.

If he isn't planning on using the rules, the uncertainty there won't affect him much. If he's just looking for models, I'd say take a peek and see if any of them match the look he'd like. If he wants the rules as well, I'd agree that he should wait till next summer.

Much appreciated guys. Some of those DP9 look pretty good, especially the big walkers could be converted to a scarab, and in that case I doubt the 12mm will matter much for a vehicle.

But that Spartan game looks PERFECT too. Some of the tanks even look like scorpions and wraiths! Between the two, I think I can cover most vehicles pretty easily.

Anybody have any ideas for the covenant infantry? Thanks again!

[Edit] I am planning on using them with the rules, just don't have much of a problem bending them here or there to fit better, so it'd be better to keep to 10mm, at least for the infantry. Somewhat less so (since it would be less noticeable) for vehicles.
