I have a couple. I love that in the original lore, the snotlings were the degenerated form of the brainboyz who created Orks, but the orks got too smart eating the same fungus as the snots and rebelled.
I adore the one panel story in Gorkamorka about Doks. The one where a boy loses an arm and he tells his Nob. The Nob says: "Well, yers got two choices. Ya can go to the Dok, or you can go without." The boy replies: "One arm ain't so bad. I'll be lighter on my feet, able to fit through narrower gaps, fings like dat." LOL

One of my favorites as well!
My all time favorite though is actually a piece of fanfiction (which I can't seem to find ATM). It's a story someone wrote a while back about Ghazzy visiting Makari's grave. It was really well done and I kind of wish it was "official lore".
I also like the idea of Ghaz letting Yarrick go after capturing him so that he can have a "proper fight" ...

That's what you'd say in those days, "give me five bees for a quarter", is what you'd say in those days. And you'd go down to the D&D shop, with an onion in your belt, 'cause that was the style of the time. So there I was in the D&D shop..." |

The Ork word for "Best Friend" and "Greatest Enemy" is the same. I love that.
Oh, and the Ork glyph for "Marine" is an extended middle finger. That's cute, too.

The one I always remember is a picture of a ramshackle Ork wagon hurtling into battle, bits flying off it, Orks hanging from the side shooting, explosions in the background and general mayhem ensuing. Every Ork in the picture is grinning.

I am partial to the old fluff on squigs being orkoid Tyranids and getting domesticated. They do have that on us, and I respect them for that.

"There is a cancer eating at the Imperium. With each decade it advances deeper, leaving drained, dead worlds in its wake. This horror, this abomination, has thought and purpose that functions on an unimaginable, galactic scale and all we can do is try to stop the swarms of bioengineered monsters it unleashes upon us by instinct. We have given the horror a name to salve our fears; we call it the Tyranid race, but if is aware of us at all it must know us only as Prey."

Definitely the story of the Snakebites, specifically the Wyrm-Killa tribe.
Releasing tyranids onto new worlds, letting them multiply while the orks killed the humans, then "by the time the Orks had torn apart the humans they found themselves overrun by Tyranids, and gleefully turned their attentions to this new foe."
And they spread tyranids wherever they go to ensure a good time.
They're going to single-handedly bring in the end times.

I have several. The first comes from the current ork codex where the ork big mek turns a space hulk into a shock attack gun only to accidently have one of his boys accidentally switch it on in reverse, sucking a planet into said space hulk.
Then there is tuska the daemon killa who launched a direct attack into the eye of terror and up a lot of daemon worlds earning the respect of khorne himsel after stabbing one of his daemon princes in the crotch with a power claw.
The other one is the ork who looted a moon and crashed it into a planet just to turn the resulting asteroid field into a fleet of ROKS.
Then there is the lore behind most ork war machines and units like the Kans who will stomp anyone who bullied them before or meks who after being booted out of a clan will return and demolish it with a dreadmob or gorkanaut after they get one built.
When all the ork lore is so good its hard to pick a favorite.

I just browsed the codex from a 'know your enemy' standpoint and didn't touch the fluff and I STILL have two. The 'fact' that red paints makes things faster and a green foot stomping something because of psychic powers. You Ork players have fun in 40k the way no other race can ever hope to touch.

I find myself constantly referring to this 'theory' IRL. A lot of times it goes over the non- 40k-players' heads, but when they get it: pure gold.

"My phone battery dies after 2 hours"

Another good one is that they can save the galaxy from abbadons current incursion if two fueding ork domains near the eye would unite. However it says they aren't going to spoil a good fight between each other by doing what amounts to good Samaritan work and let the chaos attack to unhindered.
Also is the red making things go faster a possible char anzable referenceor something random ?

The Orks have the best fluff to ever come out of GW. From a non-Ork perspective its like Lord of the Rings in space. From a Ork perspective its like British skinhead football hooligans meets 80s action movies.
