I seem to remember reading that tyranid colour schemes adapt to their surroundings. Is it feasible that you could get a genestealer with a metallic carapace if they've made themselves at home on a space hulk?

Only Lictors do this, I believe, but it's entirely possible that a splinter fleet could have made the choice.
Attempting to paint organic-looking metals is going to be a PITA though.

There are metallic-looking bugs in the real world, so I don't see why the Tyranids could not also do this.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised. |

Hive Fleet Gorgon developed Hormagaunts amd Termagants to hide from the Tau, only detectable by battlesuit sensors, due to chameleonic carapace.

Its absolutely possible, although many organic compounds are actually stronger than metallic ones.
Ceramic is a more likely compound to be made by a living creature and its going to be stronger and lighter than equivalent amounts of metal.

I think the OP means a metallic coloured carapace rather than an actual steel body, for camo purposes.

Couldn't you just claim it was an adaptive response on a metal rich world?

Hello all, thanks for the replies.
Yes, I was talking more along the lines of camo only, not them actually turning to metal. I'm just lookin to paint a majority colour that I haven't done yet and silver is the main one. Plus I think if I can do it decently, it'll look sweet as feth.
As far as claiming it's adaptive camo, that's exactly the sort of confirmation I was hoping to hear, as it's absolutely my intent, it's just good to hear that, fluffwise, it's confirmed by others and therefore considered acceptable :-)
