That was a great read, thanks. I got a quite a kick out of the players' comments about their opponents: the level of confidence in your own abilities you'd need to call the no. 7 player in the world "inept" is ludicrous.

I can understand the reluctance to google. “Chess” was an early 80’s musical (did they turn it into a movie?) about cold war era chess, rivalries, etc. “One night in Bangkok” was one of the major songs, and did quite well on the charts.

Tim Rice wrote the lyrics and the guys from ABBA wrote the music.
A few years back they did "Chess in Concert"...kind of a concert version of the musical. It was well done if you're a fan of the soundtrack or show.
