Competitively speaking here are some top choices

Be'lakor
Chaos lord/sorcerer with spawn or bikes, slanesh or nurgle are good choices here, take a spell familiar if possible
Cultists for troops
Helldrakes
Maulerfeinds(I like them more and more with the current meta)
Deamon princes

If you're going to take termites best to put them in min squads with combi meltas to try to kill whatever vehicles they find.

There are some people who are a fan of the hell brute formation. I don't use it so I can't speak to it but I have seen lists that incorporate that.

Brilliant thanks for the tips.

I was tempted by Hell drakes, what would be an effective number?

should my cultists replace the CSM?

how many bikes make a competative squad? (Uber noob here btw)

Most of your squads are divided in roles and/or don't maximize their role. There are CSM squads that have 10x models, but equipped with a single weapon upgrade. There's also a lack of transports for squads with short-ranged or melee role.

You seem to have five Elites choices, but only enough for a single CAD. Is this Unbound? If you use the Daemon Prince, divide the Chaos Cultists into two squads and then you have the ability to double CAD to at least make your list legal. With the exception of your Terminator squad and possibly your Forgefiend, the core of this army isn't a significant threat to force target priority from your opponent. He'll essentially shoot at anything within his/her terms.

Heldrakes depend on your meta. Do you face a lot of Flyers and/or FMC to possibly VS? Do you face a lot of 3+ that you would love to incinerate? 1-2 is enough.

Chaos Cultists are good for being cheap to claim objectives, but depending on the mission, you may want to keep them in Reserves for non-Maelstrom missions. They will die very easily outside of cover.

Common usage for bikes are Nurgle bikers in sizes of 5+ (like Chaos Spawn) to soak up wounds for an HQ.

Hi, like I say, pretty new here, i will admit i was trying to keep a bit of a rounded squad. I will primarily be going up against Eldar, maybe nids. (just playing with friends) and obviously missions etc are TBC. I need to get a big rule book as there are a lot of the basics that i am missing.

The Elite choices are litrally what i got in some boxes. I got the Chosen and a hellbrute from a friend who got the DArk vengeance boxed set. the termies came in the attack force and... ok yeah i bought the other "hellbrutes" (I converted some dreadnoughts as i dont really like the look of hellbrutes, but my friends are cool with this). So yeah if the list looks a little blah, i just listed everything i had from those boxes (i got extra CSM and RAptors just to make up the numbers)

Its because i thoguht the Cultists will die very fast that i split my CSM into 2 squads. Maybe i misread the codesx but i thought it was 1 for every 10 in the squad can get a special weapon (IE Flamer, heavy bolter, plasma gun)

Thanks for this, I must have read the Codex wrong, i thought 1-10 was 1 special weapon, and 10-20 was 2 special weapons. That shall be rectified.

I was looking at getting another Rhino, Also toyed with a Land raider, but i guess the terms can deepstrike?

I made the forgefiend as I thought shotty at a distance would be good against nids, and it might provide support at range for other squads. buit i was seriously divided between that and the mauler as that seems to be a bit of a tank splitter. is there space for both in my list or is that just too many points?

Would anyone reccomend oblits or other heavy support?or is a CSM army all about fast attack?

Pin the arms for termi. Also figure out how to pin the weapons on the fiend so you can swap for mauler or forge. I suggested mauler to put pressure on all your forward moving units.

The list suggested will force you to move max speed ahead and give up shooting.

If you pin the right gun arms of the termi, you could take extra arms and modify it to be an obliterator arm.

Your new heavy slot would be

Forgefiend
3 obliterator, MoN and maybe VotLW
3 obliterator, MoN and maybe VotLW

Also you might want hml on rhino.
And adl with quad gun manned by 24 cultists.

That's all solid advice. Let me encourage you to go to the GW website and download the Helbrute Formations Dataslate. You can use your 3 helbrutes for the Mayhem Pack Formation for crazed, deep striking, it will not die dreads or, use one brute and twenty of your cultists for the Helcult Formation.

Dunno if it's been said already but use the Dataslate formation for the Helbrutes.

You don't have to be happy when you lose, just don't make winning the condition of your happiness.

I will look up those dataslates!

also... hml?

I will see if I can rescue the mauler, I already glued it up before posting. that said my friends are pretty laid back im surr for now they would let us it act like a mauler ha.

cheers for the advice definitely have a better idea of what I am doing.

I am probably going to undo the above statement with this one but basically, speed etc to draw fire and attack quick. while my hs blast things from a distance and use my hellbrutes to just cause my opponent problems?
