Interesting song, but not the best way to deliver it:

I'm sure somewhere someone would have gotten fired for an anti-bush song in the same situation. Slander and such.

Wait, sorry. You were talking about "Muh Freedoms" and the ability to claim spreading lies and slander is part of free speech. Sorry. Please carry on.

This should read: "Middle school assistant football coach fired for doing something stupid"

Of course, he blames being "politically correct" for him losing his job, but politics notwithstanding, he essential spammed the personal email of who knows how many people with his gakky country song. He's a 26 year old assistant football coach to a middle school, it's a part time "job" that I doubt is even salaried (it's usually paid by a small stipend), but that doesn't mean he shouldn't act like a professional. Maybe when he grows up and gets a real job, he'll learn to act a little more mature.

The point is, if my wife (a real teacher) spammed the inboxes of parents with stupid gak, I would expect her to let go as well; it is extremely unprofessional. When you are employed by a school district in any fashion, you are seen as an extension of that school at all times and your behavior should reflect that notion. It's kind of BS, but it's the way things are.

This is a big a non-story as there ever was.

I agree with the stupidity of what he did, but liberal teachers have done fairly stupid things also without penalty.

Case in point:

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FO3NBqT3LBc

A lot of parents were pissed that their children were made to take part in this poem, but no punishments were given to the teachers.
Different school, different rules, different set up, I know, but the concept is the same. Someone in a position of authority over children intruding their political ideology in an unwelcome fashion.

Don't say such things Relapse... it might happen and it'll be your fault for tempting fate.

Having worked with many football coaches, intelligence is not often a characteristic they exhibit at the lower levels. The mere fact that he used a private email address to communicate with parents clearly points to that.

I don't see any problem with the song and it amuses me that most people claim that everything against Obama is racist. However I could see the reason for firing him as he was using the school to spread anti-obama propaganda. The biggest question here though is that did he know personally the parents that received the mail.

Well, at the very least it would be entertaining. It would be just like having bush back.

Muted the video (because I hate country music) and read the lyrics, and I really must say what's so groundbreaking about politicians dabbling with big business behind everyone's back anymore? The last several presidents have done stuff like this and so far the only people who made good music out of it was Ministry. In the words of Carlin, "No self-respecting politician would ever admit to working in the government. They prefer to think of themselves 'serving the nation', and they characterize their work as 'public service.' To help visualize the service they provide the country, you may wish to picture the activities that take place on a stud farm."

In his defense, I didn't pick up any racist overtones from that song despite me expecting something like that. But again, sending people your personal political opinions that they didn't ask for using private email is borderline slowed behavior.

Yep.

It doesn't matter what the gakky song was about, or even that it was a gakky song at all. As a representative of the school that employed him, he crossed the line by spamming the inboxes of parents using his personal email account. There is no reason he should have those email addresses in first place, let alone using them send unsolicited gak. Then he really turns up the derp with his defense of, "I read the Constitution and free speech and reasons!"

Seriously, the guy lost his "job" for acting like an idiot. That's all there is to it.

Guy fired for un-professional conduct - Assistant coach wanted.

The song is actually kind of amusing, especially the last line where it shifts from Obama to everyone.
