Anyone aware of any 3D printing services where I can give them a file to print for me?

I'm aware of shapeways but the final result is sandy.

What materials did you use from Shapeways? Their cheaper options are definitely a bit 'sandy', but their more expensive materials (Frosted Ultra Detail?) are a lot better.

Other companies I know of but haven't used.

www.moddler.com
i.materialise.com
sculpteo.com/en/

Moddler in particular looks extremely high quality but I have no idea how much it costs.
All three of these sites offer a stereolithography printed material, unlike shapeways, which generally produces a much smoother & more highly detailed model.

cost is of no concern.

Was recommended to me by one of the miniatures producers on this board.

Recommended by sculptors from The Clubhouse site. Site says it's being updated but they are still taking work, when last I checked. Email contact at the bottom of that page.

I know Maxmini 3d prints their production masters and offer it as a service, though I haven't used it. http://maxmini3d.eu/

Are we talking in the US or Europe?

I can only speak about the places in the US that I tend to use. I use moddler for my prototypes. Great detail, no clean up issues with support material as most if it is already cleared.

If you intend for them at some point to be cast in spin cast molds, I tend to use VisionProto. They are more expensive than moddler though but I had to use them since that is who Iron Wind Metals works with. You won't find it on their quotes, have to use the contact form and ask for high temperature material so it will handle the vulcanization process. There was a little cleanup needed but most of the support material is cleared away.

If you want picture examples of the prints done by them, let me know.

I recommend Jason Wires (url above) .. I've used him for all of my 3D printing needs Never tried anyone else. he's quick and he's got (I think) the highest res printer you can get, and good prices too.
