How does orks get their stuff? From fluff they emerge from spores, but if the initial army is defeated and bases eradicated, then how does the successive orks pose a threat? I assume they don't grow their weapons and vehicles.

They make them from scrap and other weapons and such. Initially they won't have weapons but there'd be sheer weight of numbers.

Orks like that are commonly called Wildboyz, or Feral Orks. They will use spears and bows and other crudely made, primitive weapons, until they manage to scavenge equipment either off the battlefield or through raids.

Thanks for answer!

Then again, they must have some sort of mining operation, else the Empire could just make a war of attrition and wear out the Orks till they don't have any weapons.

..they do have mining operations, don't they?

A very nice guy gave us some of his Ork models (from earlier days of 40K). What was cool was that he really modified things heavily - and you could get the feel of Orks quickly.

- One Ork with a Space Marine Power Fist glued on. Who knows - maybe they stole it from the battlefield....
- Another Ork with a Machine gun set up....
- Some Orks which are using Fantasy weapons (it's what they have handy) for their Choppas - instead of the slightly more moderns ones....

http://battlegaming1.blogspot.com/2014/09/warhammer-40k-tribute-to-mr-t.html

As the others have written, it's fun to visualize it that way. Ork charging forward until yelling "Hey! I kud yuze dis! I kud poke out gutz wi dis!" - and then off that Ork goes....

Have to say that we've had more fun messing with Orks than we could have guessed. Looking forward to trying new stuff - like modifications using Tyranid shells (??) or Tau bits (??)

Best regards

If they get big and successful enough, yes. Orks will enslave humans and other species who do not fight them/surrender. Presumably, resource gathering falls under slave labor for them.

Not easily. Any battle you lose, the orks steal all your stuff, and any you win they just pop back up!

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

What's worse is that they don't even need to loot stuff that is in any usable condition. They just have to believe it will work and the power of the Waaagh! makes it so. I remember a piece of fluff wherein an Ork was firing on some Marines. When it was finally gunned down, they inspected the Ork's slugga only to find it never even had a firing pin.

I understand that it was so in the early codex, not present, tho I like the old codex better and specially the old outdated things like (walking across the battlefield in order to congratulate someone badass space marine, then walk back again and continue da fite)

Orks have the knowledge to mine built into their DNA too. Even if there isn't any technology for them to loot they can make their own, they're just really good at scavenging on top of that.

They can extract natural resources just as good as anybody else. Probably better in some ways. And the Ork race itself provides some resources. Oil squigs, leather squigs, etc.. As da great Boss Bil-gatz said once, "Ders a squig fer dat!"
