Hello everybody
I recently played some games of Chain Reaction from 2 Hour Wargames. I played them solo as I don't have access to a local games club. I found the rules to be good fun and quick to use. I thought some of you might find the reports interesting!
The rules themselves are free from 2HW website, which is awesome, and the fact you can play by yourself is pretty handy when nobody is around to join in. Each game took about 2 hours to play, which means I was able to play them very quickly after each other. Also note that these games are usually played on a 3' by 3' board, which is surprisingly much easier to accommodate than the minimum 4' by 4' that most GW games demand!
Here are links to 3 games I have played on the imaginary colony of New Victoria:
First contact at New Victoria.
The shape of things to come.
Rescue mission!
Hope you like

Nice Batreps. You don't see to many CR batreps around! I tried the last two versions of 5150 and found that the THW reaction system isn't really my cup-o-tea, but it's a very well designed system and reportedly excellent for solo play. I really think every gamer should at least give CR a try, if only to see a realy well executed example of game design that is completely different from all the other mainstream wargames.
The Olive Drab Rhino reminded me of the old RT era art pages showing various camo schemes for Space Marine Tanks. Twas a different time…
What figs are you using? I see a few Pig Iron, but I can't identify some of the others.

Sorry for my late response, guys! I didn't realise until now that anyone had looked at them!

Glad you found them interesting! Yes, the reaction system isn't for everyone but I like it (even though I'm still learning from game to game!). I like Chain Reaction as it encourages using smaller forces and you can still get a fun story out of it. I definitely recommend this system for solo play - after a few plays things flow really fast.
I like the drab scheme on the Rhino too! I miss the old Rogue Trader stuff - I still look up the old artwork and get teary eyed I've drifted away from GW in favour of a more Roguish style of play. CR seems to suit that
I used Pig Iron miniatures to represent the enemy guerillas and BlaxoSmithKline mercs. For militia I used Hasslefree sci fi troops and a few more Pig Iron.

I'm thinking of giving the ruleset a try, so reading through these was actually kind of helpful.
You ought to post some closeups of the figures you were using though. They looked interesting.

I recommend trying the rules out - they play fast despite the initial page flicking you'll have as a new user. As for some close ups of the figures - well okay, but don't cry when you see how ugly they are!
Here's some of the guerilla fighters - I use Pig Iron ferals with some added Puppets War heads. They also serve as Cawdor gangers for Necromunda
Pig Iron Heavy Infantry figures with their cold weather heads. Nice, chunky figures that are easy to paint! This is an old picture I'm afraid, before I got round to basing 'em.
And here's some scifi troopers from Hasslefree that are also part of the militia forces. Again they are old pics - I might dust off my thread here and post some fresh pictures.

Thank you, Manchu! I'm really chuffed people like the reports, it's definitely motivated me to play some more games.
Here is my fourth battle report from the campaign - it was over very quickly but fleshed out a wee bit of the story for me.

This is a really fun campaign and a good read.
I will look into these Chain reaction rules. They sound like something I was working on for recreatiing Combat! the WWII television show.

You are very welcome, my absolute pleasure to share! Hopefully this will get more people using these rules - until I started using them I struggled to get games in. I have edited my OP - the playing surface is 3 feet square. I was happily surprised at how quickly I could fill this space with terrain but I need to make a point of actually painting all of it now!

Hello Easy E! So pleased you like the campaign - I recommend this rule set. It encourages fleshing them out with your own ideas wherever you see room for improvement. I have found that my games do play out like I'm watching a film or reading a comic!
I will be playing game number 5 of the campaign very soon but I want to get some more models painted up and better pictures of the pieces I am using. Thanks again for looking, everyone.
