So I'm planning to head to a tournament and bring my black templars with inquisition support. I'm thinking about running it fluff-wise as a deathwatch detachment. I'm hoping to get some feedback on my list.

Black Templars detachment:
HQ
Captain w/ lightning claw and powerfist
Troops
crusader squad 9 initiates 5 neophytes, 2 power weapons and a flamer in a land raider crusader
5 scouts in a land speeder storm with a meltabomb on the sargent
6 scouts with sniper rifles and camo cloaks
Elites
5 man legion of the damned squad with meltagun, multimelta, and a power axe and grav pistol on the sargent
9 man sternguard squad with 2 plasmaguns (I would go grav, but I don't have any) in a drop pod
fast attack
storm talon with skyhammer

Inquisition detachment:
HQ
Coteaz
Xenos inquisitor with all the grenades power armor psyker level 1 3 servo skulls and the leiber heresius
Elites
2 inquisition squads of 3 acolytes all with flamers in razorbacks with assault cannons and psybolt ammo

1850 on the nose

the idea is that coteaz goes with the sternguard in the pod
the other inquisitor goes with the captain and the crusader squad in the land raider which I hopefully get to infiltrate with the leiber heresius
The inquisition squads move up the sides and either work as a distraction for the heavier hitters or they get out and harass with their flamers and strength 7 rending twin linked assault cannons I think that the razorbacks will also work well as secondary anti air or anti armor.

any feedback will be appreciated

You swapping the neophytes to Chainsword+Pistol?

Having a psycher with the BT even as Inq. is a bit unfluffy.

first of all thank you for replying. yes I am planning to go with the ccw loadout for both the neophytes and initiates. While I do agree with you on the pysker inquisators being unfluffy for a strictly black templars force, I'm planning to run it as a dethwatch detachment, and I felt that the black templars chapter tactics fit best for a force of marines who are either trying to redeem themselves through personal combat or glorious death on the battlefield. The psykers are there as inquisition observers directing the marines. Also I'm bringing this army to a tournament so I have to bring something to counter the inevitable demon factory and grey knights psyker star lists that I will be facing. I know for a fact that I will be facing at least two different demon summoning lists. one classic screamerstar and an eldar ghost-helm demon factory/serpent spam hybrid. The eldar list is fluffy as well as crunchy, my friend plays it as a craftworld that has resigned it's fate to be eaten by she who thirsts and has resorted to summoning daemons so they can cause as much death as they can and speed the arrival of ynnid

Man that's some commitment. Well a few things, black Templar are perhaps the least competitive of the space marines and while I'm a huge fan of their fluff they might not be the best to bring to tournaments.

That being said I think their biggest strength(along with dark angels) is objective secured landraiders. I would concentrate around those. You can get three in with a storm talon or if they allow forge world I'm a huge fan of Morris pattern contemptor dreadnoughts, 12 s6 rending shots for their autocannons gives you some durable extra dakka and anti flyer.

I also prefer chaplains for hq for black Templars as that hatred is crucial to dominant cc combat.

I agree that templars need hatred, but I'm getting it with my inquisitor who carries the leiber hereisus, I know it's only hatred for one turn. but I also get one turn of counter attack, fear, splitfire and first turn scout on a landraider! seems like a good trade to me. I also agree that those contemptor mortis dreds are monsters, I used to proxy three of them into a dark angels list and play them on the table all standing around a techmarine who had a power field generator. 4++ save on all of them and if they take a hit I can repair it while they pump out an unholy amount of dakka! it is so incredibly mean that I don't know why I haven't seen it at a major tournament yet. But, like I said, those were proxies. While I agree with you that mortis dred and OS landraider crusiaders are probably my best bet if I want to win the tournament. I simply don't have the money to drop on all those expensive models just to win a tournament who's prize is not nearly going to balance out that kind of investment. I'm not really expecting to win, I'm only hoping to show up with a list that is a) fluffy b) fun to play against c) will offer at least some challenge to my opponents even if I end up losing to them in the end.

I am very interested to see how this list does. It has good psychic defense (5+ DTW) and it also has some good psychic support as well. And as for the hating of psykers, if I remember correctly it was a fluff change that they -hate- alien and heretic psykers. Also, there is a very interesting bit in Eternal Crusader if you want to see more with their fluff shift.

The 5+ DTW won't come into play against Conjurations, only sheer volume of dice. If you can, I would recommend taking an Assassin.

which assassin? I'm thinking you are suggesting a culexis for the increased anti psyker defense, but if you had a different thought I'd be interested in hearing it.

Culexus. By the sound of things you're gonna face multiple psychic deathstars, I would invest in the Culexus and have him steal one of the RZbacks to flat-out him in range of the psykers ASAP. Watch their psychic phase crumble (insert evil laugh) and wipe them out while they're nullified.

If the enemy has good anti-tank weapons I'd even have him ride in the LRC for extra resilience and bigger null footprint.

I can't stress enough how brutal the Culexus is against psykers. And it would fit nicely with your inquisition fluff.
