Hi im in need of a little help. Im going up against my friend who plays gk next week and I'm torn between two lists. He takes the typical gk list (first turn deepstrike and duel dk)

Kharn

Cultists x10

Csm x20, ccw, mark of khorne, p fist, 2 x melta guns

Plague marines x 5, 2x plasma guns, rhino dirgecast
(3 identical squads)

Havocs x 4 autocannons


List 2

Daemon prince- wings, power armour, nurgle, black mace

Cultists x 10

Cultists x10

Plague marines x5 2x plasma, rhino, dirge
(3 identical squads)

Havocs x4 auto cannons

Defiler- warpflame gargoyles

(both lists come up to 1250 pts)

Does he take many hamminators?

Take vindicators s10 ap2 large blasts. Or drown him in plague zombies. Tzeench cultists are stupid for 6++ saves but plague zombie t4 vs hamminator s8 = instant death so no fnp.

So, against GK you want high Initiative power weapons. Here's where Kharn or Abaddon might actually work. Let the Zombies or Cultists take hits from the squad while Abby or Kharn punk whoever steps up to the plate for the challenge and let the wounds spill over into the squad.

You won't kill a lot of guys with the zombies at all, but once the Character is down, your beatstick can run through the Power Armor guys like WHOA.


Did this with Typhus and a bunch of zombies last game...Typhus ate the charge and bounced the Power Weapon attacks with his 2+, then splatted the Champion with Manreaper and spilled a ton of wounds into the squad. Sure they killed a few zombies, but one round of combat wiped half of the squad. When they work, S6 AP2 Daemon Weapons are no joke. We're talking up to 10 attacks.



I know that people will tell you that Defilers are garbage. They're definitely overcosted but I've found one to be pretty nice against MEQs. The Power Fists striking at Initiative are pretty brutal because most of their things that swing at I4 won't touch AV12 anyway. And the Battle Cannon makes a mess of MEQs fairly well.



How about this:


Kharn: 160 ## This unit is your Anvil
35 Cultists: 150

Nurgle Lord on Bike w/ Sigil, Fist, Claw, Daemonheart: 195 ## This unit is your Hammer
7 Bikers w/ 2 Melta Guns & MoN: 230

2x5 Plague Marines w/ 2 Melta Guns in Rhinos: 175 * 3 = 350 ## hearty objective grabbers

5 Havocs w/ 4x Autocannons: 115


## And you've got 50 points to add whatever you like. More if you drop the number of bikers. You could still fit a Defiler if you drop the Havocs and some Bikers.

The more AP 2 you pile in the better. but in all honestly anything in power armor is going to get massacred by GK. Go with the list the guy above me posted it looks solid
