I do have one question though, why did you pay for it if you weren't happy? I have had commission work done before now and I get detailed 360 pictures sent before any cash exchanges hands. It's pretty obvious the Lamasu (spell?) wasn't up to scratch so why not just tell them you don't believe that is level 4 and detail what you expect to see using the examples on there site to back up your claim.
He explained in the video. You have to pay 65% up front, if you refuse to pay the rest they sell off your stuff, keeping what they make and the 65%.

So far they have spent time finding ways to remove my review instead of just working with me.
Unfortunately for you, from their standpoint it may make a lot of sense to do this. Any working with you is going to take time (if they were to repaint) or cash (to refund) and cash flow is likely an issue with a company using this business model. They may not have available liquid funds to use for a big refund. Any time involved is time in which your review and forum topics like this one are still up and active which is undoubtedly costing them new business which further exacerbates cash flow problems.
Getting rid of your review (and squelching associated social media/forum topics) they feel are hurting/slowing business is going to be a priority for them.

Yeah, if I am running MWG my response to BTP is along the lines of:
"Lets see how you address the current issue before I give you any more help. Right now you are not living up the standards of a company I can endorse"

What justice has been served?
OP still has an army he's not happy with, and is now going to need to retain an attorney to try and get some sort of settlement - and while I understand the effort, I am quite dubious of the outcome. It's going to be pretty hard for a layperson to get the distinctions that we take for granted. Have you guys served on a jury before?
BTP has a black eye, but the internets will move on and forget. Maybe his shaky business practices will bring him down, but maybe not. I doubt this will have any really lasting effect.
All of the yelling in this thread and self-congratulatory masturbation has accomplished what every single thread complaining about GW accomplished, essentially: nothing whatsoever.
I wish OP the best of luck. I would probably eat my losses and take the offer in this thread for a repaint from YWPA (nice offer, btw!)
I agree with what you wrote, but do think there is a significant difference between GW and BTP. BTP likely does not have the customer base and liquid capital GW has access to. If OP can tie up BTP assets by forcing them to commit them to a legal battle, while causing them a short term downturn in commissions due to 'bad internet press', that can be a HUGE blow to a small company and BTP may not be able to overcome it. Unless BTP has a lawyer willing to do pro-bono work, even forcing them to lawyer up is doing them damage a small company may have trouble handling.
It could end up a lose/lose. OP may not get restitution but BTP may burn through assets they cannot afford to burn through.
We'll see. I hope it does go well for the OP, but it won't be easy and that outcome is not assured.

heartserenade wrote:Not to mention if OP didn't bring this up and it didn't get this much attention, it might not have caught YWPA's attention as well. Justice may not be served right now, but at least OP's getting a well painted army that he wants.
No, YWPA very graciously volunteered to paint a character or unit, but not the whole army.

I have already decided that once I get the army back I will post pictures + my master instructions so everyone can decide if BTP kept their end of the bargain and followed my instructions.
No response on the fact that he was reading verbatim from his instruction sheet? That's cool - you don't have to admit you were wrong.
EDIT @: reality-torment: I can assure you 100% that I dont work for BTP, and have never worked with BTP before. Also if you read the email on the previous page, and my post you quoted, that mail was AFTER he had paid. So no we dont know if he really asked that before he commissioned the project. But Im the only one here who really cares about proof anyways so. Also to me, you are the one making a fool out of yourself claiming im some kind of undercover BTP employee lol.
The email from Shawn was in reply to the final instructions. I'm pretty sure (but not 100% sure) that the payment was not sent before the final instructions were.
Im sorry for breaking my vow, but its hard when people talk to me like this.
Actually, it is only hard if you lack self control and discipline.

There is a dakka painting services thread: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/612233.page
Would it be a good place to start?

So offered a full refund on this project even after going public. I would like to know the difference?
Most likely Shawn was aware that Nick could have serious impact in the gaming community. Guess he didn't know who Tenebre was.
Or, times have changed and money's too tight these days.
Or, he was just feeling gakky.
Or, he has some form of dementia and thinks this was actually good work for the standard specified?
Eh, pick one or more.
Could it be size/cost of the commission and cash flow problems? Maybe this one was too expensive for him to want to come up with the cash (or even be able to come up with the cash) to offer a refund?
(just guessing, no clue about the size of the commission from Nick not any clue about BTPs financial situation).
