just needing some outside opinions
I will soon be starting a tau army and plan to paint metal in rust a rust effect and have become stuck on what colour the cloth should be.
I was toying with the idea of a "dirty" turquoise or light blue,
Any ideas will be a great help

Turquoise will match better. Orange or bright greens make a good accent. Read up on color wheels.

TBH I don't think Tau would use plain old steel at all. More likely (IMO) to use ceramics or alloys.

True but what works well on tabletop models is often unrealistic. (If that makes sense for a space fantasy game involving daemons and elves.)

Rust: Newer rust is around an orange colour.

As mentioned with a colour wheel, blue is the contrasting colour to orange. A "three way" contrast would be green with purple.

It will certainly stand out with either choice.

I think a greyish blue would work.
