Crossposting from news and rumours to ensure everyone sees it:

Hi, I've just put up a nice little Dakka update but part of that involves a full re-write of the dakka header. If your header looks funny, please click shift-refresh / ctrl-refresh or clear your cache on your mobile device (or wait a week or so and it will fix itself on its own).

The latest updates include:
- rewrote the header and footer across site to improve mobile performance and scaling
- changed the homepage image blog to be massive images (change will appear in 24 hours or so)
- when uploading images, improved the size of image preview to show difference between original and adjusted versions (larger thumbnails).
- when uploading images, you can now do multiple uploads at once, facebook style - so there is no longer any technical limit to how many images you can upload at once and you can select many images at once which will make bulk uploading much faster and easier.
- fixed the maps (player finder, store finder) on windows mobile devices.

Please post any bugs in the nuts and bolts thread.

That might explain all the issues I'm having tonight. Running iOS 7.1.2 on an iPhone 5s. Cleared the data and retryed everything before taking these screen caps and posting this.

A.) Having a problem with ads hijacking my browser and redirecting me away from Dakka when I trying to open threads. I have to go back and reclick the link then manually find where the newest post is in the thread because it counts me as having read everything now.

2.) Over large images are not getting automatically downsized to fit the screen, instead rather zooming out the page to whatever fits the image.

III.) Even without images the header links are stretching the page out a bit, leaving a gap along the right side of the forums.

Thanks for the screenshots. Bug A will be resolved by tomorrow at the latest (but likely sooner).

For bugs B and C, could you 'switch theme' to the main dakka theme (non mobile version) and let me know if that helps at all?

Alas I dont have an iphone so it is the one thing I was not able to test against (tested on firefox, chrome, safari, IE, windows phone, samsung browser, android chrome, ipad ios 7)

Classic Grey/Gold does fix the B&C problems so I'll use that for awhile. Colors look weird though just because it's not what I'm used to...

Does the normal (non classic, non mobile) theme still have the B+C bugs?

Dakka 2012? It has the same problem with B. C is the same when viewing a list of topics, but once you open a thread the header shrinks to where it's shorter than the page a bit and all the posts display normally.

I missed taking a screenshot, but my entire Dakka was a mess this morning, both on computer and on phone. The "Forum Tools" and "Thread Tools" were expanded, the categories (Forum, Gallery, Articles etc) were "broken up" so to speak, and I couldn't change theme.

Refreshing the page was all it took for me to sort it out though, so thanks

Yup Dakka 2012, that is interesting then, thanks for that. Must be fixable, just a case of me waiting for a friend with an iphone to come round so I can test it on the development version here. I'll get it sorted eventually

Aesop, yup you saw a partially updated site that needed newer copies of the stylesheet files which hitting refresh does, so you should not have any issues from here on out.

I'm seeing this on IE (most recent) even after trying your fix

a minor annoyance, but fixing it would be good

while chrome & firefox are OK so it seems to be a browser rather than cache issue

Pressing down on the shift key and clicking on F5 (refresh) fixed that for me on IE and Chrome.

Yup, clear cache or forced refresh will fix that Orlando - it is just the old stylesheets in your local (or proxy) cache.

Using my iPhone 5 with the latest iOS shows a large empty area on the far right when I'm not in a thread.

A minor annoyance...

I tried that and nothing changed.....

but about 2 hours later with no further messing about and all is OK

so however it happened all is good now

Alph, does changing to a non-mobile and non-dakka 2012 skin fix the problem for you on your iphone too?

Yes, it does!

The Classic Grey/Gold doesn't show the weird formatting problem.

Though I must admit I prefer the 2012 black/orange look!

Any idea what's causing what?

The two different stylesheets use slightly different code for the formatting of the headers which has a different set of bonuses on each. Looks like the strengths of the old outweigh the new. I'll add the changes to the newer style once I get my hands on an iphone for testing.

Thanks for this post! On Opera Next, ctrl+F5 fixed the problem.

On worksafe theme.

From dakka fiction downward the lines in the table are coloured white.

Minor issue, but it bugs me a bit

Also the bottom of the screen from "post reply" downwards the background is white instead of grey.

The table cell lines also go white every 9 rows or so then fades back into grey and so on in the sub forums.

It's Ctrl + F5 not Shft + F5 to force IE to reload a page.

On my mobile I like using the regular dakka grey and gold. But now no matter wether I'm on lite or not, it loads up like I'm on Lite since the update?

Oops yeah I've broken acronym popups. Will get that sorted!

Drop downs for all because it was becoming too much work to manage so many headers across so many themes and devices. Sorry for that!

Ugh. It's not such a bad deal on desktop but now it's three clicks on my phone. Thread tools, enlarge swipe, subscribed. Oh well.

Which phone OS? Oh phones I'd recommend bookmarking it as a favourites link at least.

Android Chrome: I can't change theme, as the "go" button won't activate after I select a new theme. I also can't get into thread tools at all; clicking does nothing to open the menu.

I'll play with settings. (I'm on a Tegra Note 7 tablet, running Android 4.4.2, Chrome 38.)

Sorry to butt in here guys, but my Kindle Fire has been having trouble for the last 24 hours with Dakka. Much the same problems as others have been having, but switching it to Classic Grey and Gold has fixed the problem.

Don't know if that helps any?

I use Android Chrome on my phone too, and I can change to any theme but Dark/Orange. The Dark/Orange is exactly the same as Lite (as in no avatars, sigs etc)
