Everywhere at once..

I recently picked up a Helbrute as an addition to my chaos army since it is lacking in the AV department. After having it, in the box, for several days now I just can not decide what build to go with. The two I am leaning towards most heavily are...

Plasma Cannon + Thunder Hammer comes to 110pts

also..

Dual Powerfists with Heavy Flamer on each comes to 135pts

The only problem is if I give him both ccw his crazed wont be as scary. Serious posts only please none of this "why would you buy a helbrute" I get it, your a powergamer, move on

All suggestsions are appreciated

I prefer TL LC and PF, or if you want cheap, take the Reaper and PF ( Heavy Flamer optional). With that loadout, and only one Brute, you can actually hit something with TL while still maintaining a CC threat.
I also recommend magnetizing the Brute in order to swap out at will. Plus, you can pick up Dark Vengeance brutes on the cheap, and share weaponry between your Brute force with minimal customization.

Consider running it in an Anti armor configuration with the Helcult formation. I run mine with TLLC and ML and 2x15 cultists. Those cheap fearless cultists are worth their weight in gold haha.

I wouldn't recommend the dual power fist because there is no real way to get it into combat. I also recommend the reaper/power fist. Keep it cheap and simple.

While they are singing "what a friend we have in the greater good", we are bringing the pain!

Is the PC just not worth the points?

If you're really jonesin' for Brutes, the formations are the only way to run them.

The Helcult is OK...I'm test-running the Mayhem Pack tomorrow. I'm thinking it'll synergize well with a Rush list. 3 x Spawn units each joined by a nasty IC (1 w/ Juggerlord, 1 w/ Crimson Slaughter lord, 1 w/ Sorcerer or regular Lord), couple of Maulers, and the Mayhem Pack.

Turn 2 you should have a whole lot of hurt coming down on your opponent.

Tier 1 is the new Tactical.

I think the mayhem pack + rush list will also benefit from huron and his infiltrating.

Don't underestimate the scourge. I'd go Reaper with scourge or Las/ML for shooty. Formations are a must. DS packs of crazed dreads!

The only problem I have with plasma cannons is... small blast with scatter is near worthless. especially only one shot. They constantly disappoint me with my obliterators, to the point where Plasma Cannon is just another word for wasting a wound on Overheats.

Order a bunch of magnets, and build your Dreadnought so you can switch around armaments. You'll have much more fun building it, because it will take much longer

Thank for the comments everyone. I think Im just going to go with the TLLC and PF. I am going to look up the Helcult formation though, that sounds fun

IMO the standard multimelta + powerfist will get you the most mileage. Add a HF to the pf and the helbrute can deal damage to anything you need it to. Also if you use the formations, theres nothing like deepstriking right into the middle of your opponents armor line with a melta and powerfist combo

+1

MMs and PFs are the way to go.
I've tried running LC + PF and TLAC + ML, but nothing compares to the price/use of the original PF/MM.
Especially when you deep strike them or use the unholy abomination that is the Helfist Murderpack. (Which are two of the only three viable ways of fielding Helbrutes anyway)

Heavy Flamers on PFs are a good option though.
