Just starting a Necron army after getting a great deal on a Tesseract Vault and am trying to decide the color scheme I will use. I want to keep my army lore-friendly or at least lore-adjacent in terms of looks. I read up on the Escalation article and have been googling Necron Dynasties and Transcendent C'tan for the past two hours and havn't found anything. All info appreciated!

Officially, all dynasties might use one, but we can infer from the fact that he literally loves pokeballs that Trazyn's Solemnace dynasty would be most likely to use them.

I'd probably argue for the reverse. If Trazyn the Infinite has shards, they are most definitely a part of his collection, and we all know how he feels about people trying to break or steal his collection.

"There is a cancer eating at the Imperium. With each decade it advances deeper, leaving drained, dead worlds in its wake. This horror, this abomination, has thought and purpose that functions on an unimaginable, galactic scale and all we can do is try to stop the swarms of bioengineered monsters it unleashes upon us by instinct. We have given the horror a name to salve our fears; we call it the Tyranid race, but if is aware of us at all it must know us only as Prey."

I imagine that Dynasties would only use them in times of dire need (as in the Tomb World would be overrun or destroyed without it so there'd be a good chance of it being released anyway). Even the prospect of individual C'tan Shards escaping is supposed to be terrifying for the Necrons. Transcendent C'tan are much more potent a threat.

Now I haven't done a lot of reading on the new Necrons, but I always like the idea of the Deceiver. Perhaps a Dynasty that is heavily manipulated by said C'tan, but behind the scenes. The C'tan knows that the Necrons are much more valuable of an ally if they think that they are in control.

The correct question is, would I be enjoying this hobby if I did this?

The correct audience is you.
