These are the special characters for my Homebrew chapter, your thoughts?

Chapter Master Nicholas Vertrungen-300pts[/b]
The Invictus Armor: An artifact of ancient and technological wonder, the Invictus armor has long been revered as the mightiest Artificer Armor ever made. This incredible suit has a 2+ Armor save, and a 3+ Invulnerable Save and confers Feel No Pain (5+).

The Invictus Hammer: Built from the hardest of metal, the Invictus Hammer has a long history of violence and battle. It has been the weapon that has brought down the strongest tyrants and warlords, the hammer of righteous anger. During the Assault Phase, the player may choose which attack style to use;

One-Handed: X2 S, Ap2, Unwieldy, and Concussive.

Two-Handed: X2 S, Ap1, Armorbane, Concussive and Fleshbane. Halves your attacks

Earth-Shaker: One attack with this style per game and it replaces all his attacks for that assault phase. Center the Large Blast over Nicholas with the following profile, S8, Ap4, Concussive, and Unwieldy. All friendly models in the radius must immediately make a fall-back move (but they immediately regroup) and all surviving models within the Large Blast and within 12" of Nicholas must take a Dangerous Terrain test , which includes Nicholas(Only Flyers and Swooping Monstrous Creatures are immune to this). All surviving models are also moved back D6" towards their respective deployment zones. For the rest of the game, the area is treated as Difficult Terrain.

The Blizzard: Crafted by the Tech-priests for the Chapter Master, this storm bolter is the only storm bolter configured to fire special-issue ammunition, usually only reserved for the boltguns of the chapter's veterans. Treat this as an Assault 3 storm bolter which may fire special issue ammunition, also treating those shots as Assault 3.

USR: Eternal Warrior, And They Shall Know No Fear, Crusader, Independent Character

Stats: WS6 BS5 S4 T4 W4 I5 A4 Ld.10 Sv.2+/3++

Chapter Master Nicholas has the Warlord Trait Fleet Master

High Chaplain Remus Octavian-200pts

Flamestorm Cannon: During the Battle of Charon and during his time as an Astartes, he led his Assault Squad into battle from the Land Raider Redeemer,
Vengeance of Neptune. The Necrons were able to fell this mighty machine, leaving Remus as the sole survivor. While many of the Necrons fell to his Crozius, his body was rent and torn beyond the skills of Corpus Animus. Miraculously, he was recovered, but he demanded that as much of the Vengeance of Neptune was to be salvaged, this Flamestorm Cannon being the only surviving piece. It has a profile of:
S6 Ap3 and Template.

Chainfist+Underslung Heavy Flamer

Rosarius: Unlike most of the Chaplain Dreadnoughts, Remus still has his Rosarius, a relic from his time as an Astartes. It gives him a 4++ Invulnerable Save.

For the Fallen: When Remus suffers a wrecked result roll a D6, on a 4+ he assaults the nearest enemy unit, and continues attacking for one more turn.

Stats: WS5 BS4 S6 AV12 AV12 AV10 I4 A3 HP4

USR: Crusader, Rage (Against Necrons only), Rampage, Hatred (Necrons)

Warlord Trait: Weathered Patriarch

Chief Librarian Moloch Fabel-175pts
Fulgrath's Revenge: Embedded with a sliver from Fulgrath's original armor, Moloch carries this shard of the former Chapter Master within his mighty blade. S-user, Ap2, Rampage and Force. Gains Fleshbane in challenges.

Magnus' Redemption: After extensive purification of this rare and archaic Bolt Pistol, Moloch was able to free it from the taint of Chaos. Being a former weapon in the arsenal of the Thousand Sons, this Bolter has been blessed with the mighty Inferno Bolts. It has a profile of S4 Ap3 and Soulblaze.

Icy Drain: The powers of Neptune’s storms flow through Fabel, allowing him to channel psychic energy between hosts. Treat this like a focused witch fire that does not use up a warp charge point. Fabel may select one enemy Psyker up to 18’ away, if this psyker’s mastery level is below Fabel’s he may take all their warp charge points unless they pass a leadership test on 3D6, however if the psyker’s mastery level is equal to or above his own they must take a leadership test with 2D6+D3, if they pass all Fabel’s remaining warp charge points are now theirs.

Stats: WS5 BS4 S4 T4 W3 I4 A3 Ld.10 Sv.3+

USR: Psyker (Lv.3), Adamantium Will, And They Shall Know No Fear, Independent Character

Warlord Trait: Angel of Wisdom

Master of the Forge Rexonis Fhalcon-190pts

Servo-Harness

Tri-Combi Bolter: A rare and exotic weapon scarcely found, even amongst the Chapters of the Astartes. Hand-crafted and masterfully wrought from the rarest metals known to mankind, this kind of Combi-Weapon is found only once every century. Treat the weapon with a profile of a standard Bolter with Twin-Linked, but it also has a Meltagun, Plasma Gun, and Flamer built into it (the Meltagun, Plasma Gun, and Flamer all have one shot each per game though and Twin-Linked applies to them as well).

Axe of Mars: One of the greatest Tech-Priests ever trained on the Red Planet, Rexonis was gifted with this Axe as a memory of his days on Mars. It has a profile of; +1S Ap2, Unwieldy and Armorbane.

Stats: WS4 BS5 S4 T5 W4 A2 I4 Ld.10 Sv.2+

USR: Blessing of the Omnissah, And They Shall Know No Fear, Advanced Training, Master Artisan, Independent Character

Advanced Training: Well-versed in the litanies of repairing machinery, Rexonis has been renowned for being able to perform nearly double the amount of repairs in the same amount of time as a normal Techmarine. Rexonis may take a second Blessing of the Omnissah roll after his first roll.

Master Artisan: After deployment but before the game begins, select one unit. All ranged weapons in that unit with the Gets Hot! Rule no longer have Gets Hot for the duration of the game.

Warlord Trait: Armory Access Lvl2

Chief Apothecary Corpus Animus-140pts

Narthecium: Like all Space Marine Apothecaries, Animus strides to battle with his Narthecium, the tool of salvation for many Astartes too wounded. It provides Animus' unit with Feel No Pain.

Blade of Triton: For as long as Nicholas could remember, Animus has always served as his Apothecary, tending to the wounds and injuries of himself and his Company. During his long service, Animus has never needed a Bolter or Power Weapon, for all he needed to defend himself is this relic. While it appears to be a standard Chainsword, it is actually far more powerful than the rest of the Chainswords in the Chapter's armory, for its teeth are in fact slivers of metal from the Emperor's own armor, the shards salvaged from the wreckage of the Vengeful Spirit. It has a profile of; +2S Ap1 and Shred.

Stats: WS5 BS4 S4 T4 W2 A3 I4 Ld.10 Sv.3+

USR: And They Shall Know No Fear, Feel No Pain (4+), Master of Cures, Independent Character

Master of Cures: A veteran of countless battles across the stars from even before he served with the Guardians of Terra, Animus has been able to discover newer methods of curing even the most virulent of toxins and diseases. Animus and his unit are immune to Poisoned attacks.

Warlord Trait: Belligerence

First Captain Antaeus-225pts
Machine Flesh: After he had fallen in battle in Charon, Antaeus’ body was found badly mutilated and injured beyond the skills of the Apothecaries of the Guardians of Terra. While it was presumed that he would only survive in Dreadnought Armor, the Tech-Priests of Mars instead offered to try and heal Antaeus with their technological skills. Seeing no other alternative, Antaeus underwent an experimental surgery similar to that of the Iron Hands. Once he had recovered, he was blessed with bionics that had increased his physical might to something far beyond normal Astartes. Antaeus is treated as having +1T (incorporated into his profile), and +1 to his Feel No Pain (regardless of its source).

Stats: WS6 BS5 S4 T5 W3 A3 I5 Ld.10 Sv.2+/4++

Shards of Neptune: Dual wielding these frozen pieces of his chapter planet, Antaeus cuts a swathe through the enemy. All hits from these swords reduce the targets initiative to one; also all rolls of a six to wound cause the target(s) to be frozen preventing them from doing anything until passing a strength test. Discount these rules against any Psyker under the effects of Fiery Form or is the Avatar of Khaine. The target may re-roll armor saves if frozen. +1S Ap3

Lord of Assault: Formerly the Lord Executioner of his Chapter, Antaeus still recalls the days of his airborne attacks, soaring with Chainsword in hand to mete out bloody-handed justice in close-quarters. Having been granted a great boon from Nicholas, Antaeus once more takes to the sky upon his great wings of fire, bringing his Battle-Brothers straight into the thick of battle once more. If Antaeus is one of your HQ units, then you may take Assault Marines with jump-packs as a Troop Choice. In addition, Antaeus’ Command Squad may take Jump-packs at 5pts. /model.

Upon Wings of Fire: Given his record as a master of leading Assault Marines and Vanguard Veterans from the sky, Antaeus has perfected his skills at coordinating an airborne assault. The player may reroll Deep-Strike Scatter results. In addition, the player adds a modifier of +1 to the Deep-Strike Mishap table.

USR: And They Shall Know No Fear, Independent Character, Crusader, Eternal Warrior

Warlord Trait: Death Incarnate

This incredible suit has a 2+ Armor save, and a 3+ Invulnerable Save and confers Feel No Pain (5+), also all rolls to wound of a six must be re-rolled.

This is pretty damn good from a defensive standpoint. Maybe too good, but he lacks Eternal Warrior so it balances a bit.

The Invictus Hammer: Built from the hardest of metal, the Invictus Hammer has a long history of violence and battle. It has been the weapon that has brought down the strongest tyrants and warlords, the hammer of righteous anger. During the Assault Phase, the player may choose which attack style to use;

One-Handed: X2 S, Ap2, Unwieldy, and Concussive.

Not bad.

All surviving models are also moved back D6" towards their respective deployment zones. For the rest of the game, the area is treated as Difficult Terrain.

Clean up this rule. When is the attack made? Does he replace his other attacks with it? Why do friendly models fall back but enemy models move d6"? Why does everyone within 12" take Dangerous terrain? Does HE take dangerous terrain?

Maximum Charge: One attack with this style per game. Use the two handed style above but add instant death (Ignores Eternal Warrior)

This is unacceptable.

USR: Eternal Warrior, And They Shall Know No Fear, Feel No Pain, Counterattack, Crusader, Vengeful Wrath, Independent Character

Oh, he DOES have Eternal Warrior. Then the armor's probably too good. And why does he and his relic both have FNP?

Vengeful Wrath: When an Allied HQ has been slain in combat, remove Nicholas and his unit. They immediately Deep-Strike within 6" of the enemy unit that killed the HQ without scatter. Nicholas and his unit immediately charge the enemy unit during the following Assault Phase; He also gains rage if he entered combat via these means.

Aite I tried to be serious and I can't you broke me goddamn.

If you want real actual advice you need to re-write from like the the beginning. When you make a specical character take the normal model and make 3 changes at MOST. A Relic, a special rule, and a stant increase, or maybe two relics if they're simple or I dunno but this is way too goddamn much.

Tell you what. I'm pretty bored, Borderlands doesn't unlock for another day or so, so I'm gonna game a stab at what I *think* is a balanced-ish version of one of these guys. I'd like to point out that this is my opinion and my opinion alone, I'm by no means an expert or what-have-you.

Chapter Master Nicholas, 220 pts:

Stats: WS6 BS5 S4 T4 W4 I5 A4 Ld.10 Sv.2+/4++

Wargear: Artificer Armor, Earthshaker, Bolter, Frag Grenades, Krak Grenades, Iron Halo, Special Issue Ammunition

Special Rules: And They Shall Know No Fear, Chapter Tactics, Independent Character, Counterattack, Vengeful Wrath

Earthshaker: S x2, Ap2, Master-Crafted, Unwieldy, Concussive, Maximum Charge, Specialist Weapon.

Maximum Charge: Once per game at the beginning of the assault phase you may reduce Nicholas' attack value to 1. If you do Earthshaker's Strength value is changed to Destroyer for this phase.

Vengeful Wrath: Each time Nicholas or his unit suffers an unsaved wound place a counter next to it. When the unit declares a charge increase the distance rolled by the number of counters (to a maximum of 12"). If there are three or more counters, the unit gains Rage. At the end of each friendly Assault phase remove all counters next to the unit.

And heres the chapter relics, keep in mind most of their rules are highly experimental.

Chapter Relics

Sword of Ages: X2S Ap2, Two-Handed, Unwieldly, Time Distortion: once per game the bearer may strike at Initiative 10 in the assault phase of the turn that this effect is activated.

Astral Linkage: Allows bearer and unit to deep strike with 2D6 scatter, even if already on the field, this may be done once per turn during the movement phase, however if a deep strike mishap occurs, the unit is automatically destroyed, regardless of wounds. Also counts as the whole squad as having defensive grenades. does not benefit from teleport homers or locating beacons, you must always roll the scatter dice.

Cold Embrace: Pair of lightning claws, +1S, +1I, Ap3, Shred, Master Crafted

Glacial Star: +2S +2T -2I, grants relentless, but the bearer may never elect to run and causes all units within 12’ of the bearer move as though moving through difficult terrain. Character may take items from the heavy weapons list. Must be wearing terminator armor to take this item.

Pride of Mythras: Range 12’ S7, Ap2, Pistol, Master-Crafted

Aerion’s Armor: Sv 4+, grants wearer Shrouded, Scout and Infiltrate. Also makes the wearer a lvl1 Psyker. if the bearer was already a psyker it increases his mastery level by one.

These relics seem exceptionally potent to the point of broken

Chapter Relics

Sword of Ages: X2S Ap2, Two-Handed, Unwieldly, Time Distortion: once per game all units in assault have their initiative steps reversed.

Astral Linkage: Allows bearer and unit to deep strike with 1D6 scatter, even if already on the field, this may be done once per turn during the movement phase, however if a deep strike mishap occurs, the unit is destroyed. Also counts as the whole squad as having defensive grenades.

Cold Embrace: Pair of lightning claws, +1S, +1I, Ap3, Shred, Master Crafted

Sword of Ages - Not quite sure on why/how the time distortion is making slow things fast and fast things slow, I could understand perhaps making the weapon itself not unwieldy for the turn, or providing initiative lowering effect for a turn but there is no logical reason that this guy and a squad of thunder hammer terminators are suddenly swinging faster than dramaticay slowed harlequins, at all.

Astral Linkage - Gate of infinity, with no psychic test, less scatter, no risk of perils, and comes as defensive grenades?

Cold Embrace - Seems reasonable if priced right

Glacial Star - Again its just too much, you're turning a character into a walking gun machine conferring slow and purposeful to his entire unit with access to heavy weapons, making them toughness and str 6 and then putting the initiative penalty on as though that is a negative when lets fact it this guy is packing a heavy weapon and wandering around with now move+fire devastators laughing as he wrecks up the place. I could POSSIBLY see this being replaced by some kind of command centurion, but not in its current incarnation.

Aerions Armour: Has taken one of the most popular eldar relics, one upped it, and than adds in somehow being extra psychic? Too much.

Pride of Mythras - 3 shot plasma pistol with no gets hot? too potent

All in all these are just excessively potent, most relics are "Cool but situational", these just seem overly potent, or "better" versions of other races relics.

So sorry i had no idea about the eldar relics, and the glacial stars effects only apply to the bearer. It was also meant to be the most expensive. Regarding the sword of ages i've been trying to think of some decent rules for the time distortion so thanks.

The issue with slow and purposeful is that if a single member of the unit has it it confers to the unit, it's one of those annoying (yet useful) rules that translate over

Also had an idea for a Lord of War character, WARNING: PREPARE FOR MUCH OVERPOWERED CHEESE
keep in mind this guy is supposed to be apocalypse only.
I do apologize in advance for this Mary Sue of a character.

Dorian Venaught, the Beast 700pts

WS8 BS5 S6 T6 W5 I5 A5 Ld10 Sv 2+/3++

Venaught is the mightiest Original the Gene-Scions had ever created, a huge hulking space marine, stronger than an Ogryn, wiser than an Astropath and with the tactical genius to rival a Primarch. He was then betrayed by the Imperium as the Inquisition ordered that the Originals Project be halted and all current specimens be handed over to them. The Guardians gave the Inquisition all the failed test subjects, who had suffered extreme deformity, and hid all successful attempts on Triton, where Venaught grew outraged at how Humanity’s new greatest warriors had been driven into hiding. He left the chapter, with the consent of then Chapter Master Fulgrath, and now travels the galaxy alone in the strike cruiser, Icy Sorrow, aiding in the most terrible of battles that rage across the stars.

USR: Relentless, Acute Senses, Fleet, Feel No Pain, Eternal Warrior, Move through Cover, Hatred (Grey Knights/Inquisitorial Forces)

Obsidian Blades: Made from hyper-dense Solarite, these huge blades are too heavy for even a mighty space marine to lift, yet Venaught can easily dual wield these blades, as though they were as light as a feather. +3S, Ap1, Strikedown.

Training Acumen: His augmented mental capacities allow Venaught to easily assume command of any force, and use them to deadly effect. If Venaught is your warlord, give D6 non-vehicle, non HQ squads any one of these bonuses.
i. Marksman Training: gives the squad +1BS
ii. Hand-to-Hand Training: Give +1WS and +1A to one squad
iii. Specialist Training: Monster Hunter, Tank Hunter, Stealth and Infiltrate confer to squad.(Cannot be given to models with the Bulky, Very Bulky or Extremely Bulky)

Armour of Fenris: Rumored to be the former Terminator armor of the formidable Bjorn the Fell-Handed, the enormous and almost impractical adamantium pauldrons are 3 feet thick. The armor itself weighs 6 tonnes, and is capable of turning aside basically anything, in fact it is rumored that Dorian once took the full force of a Volcano cannon. 2+/3++, immunity to Melta weapons, flamers and any pyromancy attack, ignores dangerous terrain. Also the suit contains communications and targeting software which allow him to make use of the Borealis Cannon.

Borealis Cannon: A huge orbital cannon mounted to the Icy Sorrow, Dorian may select which kind of shell he wishes to fire (Max. 3 shots) :
• ‘Fire’ Shell: A huge shell filled with experimental acids that can melt through even Adamantium battle plate. Apocalyptic Large Blast, 2+ poisoned Ap2, any model that suffers an unsaved wound against this shell suffer –D3 Strength and Toughness.
• ‘Ice’ Shell: This shell type comes packed with a weakening agent that has an icy appearance when deployed. The agent is designed to seep into the molecular structure of the target and cause them to freeze and become very brittle. Apocalyptic Large Blast, S6 Ap4, Frozen. Any units hit by the ice shell must pass a strength test or become frozen, meaning they may not move, shoot or strike blows in close combat until they pass a strength test, you may take only one strength test per model, per turn. In addition all wounds allocated to frozen units count as instant death.

You know, just because you say it is disgusting, overpowered nonsense doesn't make us ignore it, right? And being an LoW doesn't change that, either.

This is a complete joke of a character. Pretty much everything needs to change, or his points value needs to at least double or triple.

And that is the rules. The fluff is the most disgusting and distasteful Mary Sue I've seen here in a LONG time.

you were warned, but fair enough. What is the price of fielding a Primarch, because that is what this guy is supposed to be.

Also an idea for piece of wargear that i thought of.

Ion Cell Shields: Crafted in the Dark Age of Technology, these mighty bulwarks are similar to their storm shield brethren. However, they are capable of reflecting enemy fire directly back into them. These shields confer the bearer a 3+ invulnerable save and all saving rolls of a 6 reflect any shooting attacks made against the bearer towards firer. however if any saving throw is failed the bearer sustains an additional wound.

I like that Dorian both automatically passes Dangerous Terrain checks due to Move Through Cover AND he also has a piece of wargear that allows him to ignore Dangerous Terrain.

It's that kind of quality and attention to detail I expect from official GW rules.
