Hello fellow veterans of the nerd world, I'm an annoying night goblin player (orcs are still acceptable in my book though unlike many other goblin players) and I've also pondered what 40k army to do. I've never really gotten started on that but I do have an isengard warband for LOTR . I love splattering my way through enemy armies as well as my own and play to make other people and myself laugh. You can't beat a good bit of mindless and disorganised violence if you ask me.
P.S: if you're a metalhead, I need heavy music that is good for wargaming to

I suggest Tyranids or Tau. Maybe Necrons.

My vote would be Chaos or Tyranids. I'd say Dark Eldar but their violence is so organized.
