So I came across this article the other day, and thought it was quite cool, and that there are others who might like to know about it:
http://www.mbl.is/english/news/2014/10/14/first_pagan_hof_in_900_years/
http://icelandreview.com/news/2006/02/08/new-places-worship-erected-reykjavik
For the work blocked: Plans have been set in motion for the first Pagan/Asatru temple to be built in Iceland in over 900 years
For those who give a damn about other religions, this is apparently being done in connection with a bill that is seeing 2 other houses of worship for Eastern Orthodox as well as Islamic peoples.

That's cool?
I mean, I care more because the building looks neat.... but it doesn't matter to me that they're building it.

Interesting. I admit that I don't exactly know all that much about the Icelandic mindset towards religion, but it seems to be an interesting experiment to bring so many temples into one spot.

From the wording of the articles, I think that about the closest they are to "one spot" is that they are in or near the same city. Proposed location for the Asatru temple is right next to a forest (which makes quite a bit of sense really), but I don't think they really talked about the locations for the other places.

No no. If you're going to build a cool temple it has to be at an awesome place. Turks and Caicos sounds good.

I would really like to visit this place if/when it gets built. I think the Asatru movement is fascinating.

Iceland is cool, in both senses. Great place for a Norse temple, complete with biting winds and bleak crags.
Frazzies Caribbean Viking culture doesn't match IMHO. A Voodoo temple however.....

Holy city? Dammit, did somebody go on a shooting rampage again?! Where are the pro-gun people (my fellow Americans)??
It's been a long two weeks.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

That is awesome, and Iceland is just the place for a small, resurgent Norse religion to spread its wings. May the All-Father bless their venture!

While in the local "Viking Store" http://longshiptradegoodstoo.com/ The proprietors informed me that there is one already in England, however the group bought an old church, and is in process of demolishing it, with plans to rebuild as a purpose built Hof.
