Peregrine - If you like the army buy it, and don't worry about what one random person on the internet thinks.

One of our more competitive choices is the Skyblight Formation:
Flyrant, 2 Harpies, Hive Crone, 3 broods of Gargoyles.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Even with the cheesiest formation it's gonna be a hard fought fight. If he is doing camping hammerheads the skyblight is your best choice as hammer heads are not the best choice in the tau codex. If you are fighting HYMP broadsides you are going to have a tough fight. Living artillery might help to clear out marker lights but they won't be much use against a lot of Mech.

What is the single best unit to kill Hammerheads with?

I found a pair of flying hive tyrants with electro shock grubs and duel devourers works as a catch all. But those 2 will be the biggest targets. Protect them with a venomthrope and in a ruin first turn for a 2+ cover save. Marker lights will ignore these obviously. Crones can work, they seem to be hit or miss the haywire tentaclids can work but you need to roll well. I usually just ignor the hammer heads and go for the troops after you kill the markerlights. SMS will be the thing that kills the majority of the little bugs, the built in ignores cover is what hurts.

Lol, good luck.

If you got Tau problems, I feel bad for you son. Tyranids got 99 problems...unfortunately Tau are number 1. And 2. And 3 through 37.

Makumba, you might want to adjust your post and remove point costs for the upgrades.
