Been looking at getting some IG for allies, but never really liked how the basic troops looked. If I had the money DKOK would be my choice, but since this is the real world I thought to convert some normal guys. Never liked Cacachan and I've tried my hand at Voystroyan, but I can't pose them easily. So to basic Cadian squads. I don't like how little armored they are (fluff wise I know the reasoning) so I thought to buff the armor a bit but I don't know where to start. Bits would be nice and I am not looking for alternative models. Adding some armor plates to the shoulders and legs would be enough. Also swapping heads for a steampunk style look. I've searched a little and only found the head and rather vague ways of changing them.

I am not the greatest with green stuff and haven't tried my hand at plasticard. (Advice on this would be most grateful)

Scions are the way I am leaning, but I would rather not buy a lot of Scions to complete this project.

The heads I will be using:

Any advice is welcome!

Hurr! Ogryn Bone 'Ead!

plasticard (or styrene) makes a very rugged heavy armour that is pretty simple but not much like scions.

Heres some of my veteran guardsmen.

And the pieces before they where glued on.
