I've seen everything from a scratchbuilt land leviathan to a home made warlord titan so a few years ago I started thinking of something I'd like to make that's gigantic and 40kish and it hit me to make a to scale battleship of some kind. I haven't worked out the math or which type of ship I'll make and once I finally start working on it I'm pretty sure I'll use ALOT of 40k cathedral bits and such but I'm curious if anyone has even seen someone else do this and has any images or links?

I present to you a slightly under 40k scale ork Destroyer.

Peregrine - If you like the army buy it, and don't worry about what one random person on the internet thinks.

Imperial Battleships are around 4km in length... so at 40K scale, would be around 60m long.

One of the smaller "spaceships" in 40K would be something like an Escort Corvette. Depending on the source you are working from - even these tiny ones are 600+ meters long.

Working with the smaller end of the scale spectrum (as opposed to where figures are actually closer to) and simple math...that means the ship would need to be 10 meters long at 1/60 scale. Many of them end up being 4000 to 5000 or so meters long in the fluff - as big as a football field to scale.

It isn't something that you will see a "to scale" creation of anytime. The ones I have seen, like the ork thing linked to above are closer to being in scale with Epic than with regular 40K.

LOL. And so, a to-scale replica with a cutaway, and fully populated with marines and imperial guard. An Ork boarding party!. Or, Space Hulk, with the size of the entire Sin of Damnation! Ahhh if I were a billionaire, I would build a 100m gymnasium to house that. But then I would also have to live to the same age as the Emperor to finish painting all the miniatures that would go in it, at my current painting speed, rofl >.<

It would be GLORIOUS!

Just to hammer in the final nail, in the book The Emperor's Mercy there is a Grand Cruiser that clocks in at over 9km in length.

Going off Insaniaks, measurements that'd be well over 120 metres long.

You are thinking too small..... If you were a Billionaire you would totally have your 145,000 square foot house built AS THE SHIP!!! Then have the "staff" dress as orks and terminators and such....
