I'm an avid chess player as well as a well-versed 40k player. For some time I've been bouncing the idea of a dedicated 40k chess set and was wondering if anyone would be interesting in purchasing a set (if they were painted, modeled, and based exceptionally well). The idea would be a standard set somebody could order (8 Tac Marines, 2 Termis, 2 Jump Pack Marines, 2 Heavy Marines, 1 Librarian, 1 Chapter Master vs 8 Necron Warriors, 2 Immortals, 2 Triarch Praetorians, 2 Deathmarks, 1 Cryptek, 1 Necron Overlord).

Every model would have spectacular great basing and painting as well as spectacular posing.

For a fee, models could be poseable, model substitutions could be made (as well as army substitutions), etc.

Thank you in advance for your feedback.

Resin Printer (minaitures) is a 4K printer with one of the largest build volumes available for a resin printer (192mm x 120mm x 245mm) with an amazing .01mm resolution! This professional printer is one of the best resin printers on the market!

FDM Printer (terrain) also has one of the largest build volumes available for an FDM printer (400mm x 400mm x 450mm) and has an amazing ,05mm build accuracy.

I wouldn't. My parents have several chess games with custom pieces and the only set I/they play with is the cheap set with standard bricks. Whenever I play with special chess sets, I tend to use extra time remembering what pieces are what and it's just annoying... Although that may have something to do with the fact that I suffer from ADD.

Depends on price.

Peregrine - If you like the army buy it, and don't worry about what one random person on the internet thinks.

What do you think a fair price would be?

I like the concept, but would never buy something like that. There is no way the price could be reasonable. Plus, half the fun of a 40k chess set is using my minis to play.

Mayne if it were Space Marines vs Chaos

I'd be more interested if it was Imperium versus the universe - it would need to be something that I can't just do with my own models?

So:

Pawns: Guardsmen
Rook; Mechancius or Titan
Bishop: Sororitas
Knight: Astartes
King: the Emperor
Queen: Inquisitor - (Valeria or Amberley would make me happy)

Enemy:
Pawns: Orks
Rook: Necron Lord or Monolith
Bishop: Eldar Archon
Knight: Chaos Marine
King: Hive Tryant
Queen: Lelith

That would probably come out as far too expensive for a single chess set, sounds like a nice idea but hardly anyone would go for it IMO

It's not so much interest as it is a price vs. quality thing.

Hell yeah I'd want one, but I'm not going to pay 50+ euros.

You don't have to be happy when you lose, just don't make winning the condition of your happiness.

Just saying, sounds great, but unless:

A) Not GW price
B) Choosable armies
C) Ability to paint it myself

I would't buy it.

I think a product that might appeal to all of us who want to do it ourselves is a chess basing set. Something that constants, like ash waste, volcanic, or demon world for the black squares and urban, arctic, or desert bases for white. Enough bases (probably in a few sizes) for the pieces, and matching squares to assemble to make the board.

Depends on size and detail. Below $50.
