So the premiere episode just ended here on the East Coast.

Did anyone else really enjoy it? I hate DC right now for putting out quality TV shows. My DVR is filling up too damn fast!

Have to wait until tomorrow for Hulu to get it, then I will let you know what I thought. High hopes for this show, love Hellblazer!

I watched it right after Grimm.

It has potential but the flow of the plot line was moving a bit fast.

Though I did watch John Wick last night. I have to admit. Reeves was damn good in it. First 30 minutes was guessing what he did. The clues giving away in those 30 minutes had one mind guessing who he was. I think even Lucifer would think twice of actually coming up to claim his soul eventually for fear of getting opted out

I watched the pilot some months back, but I've heard it's been reedited for the tv release with a different ending so I need to rewatch it I think.

2 Questions;

Does Constantine take place in the DC TV universe (alongside Arrow and Flash)?

And

Did anyone else notice the blatant display of Nabu's Helmet?

I DVR'd it last night because I had to work today, but I am looking forward to watching it when I get home from work tonight.

On the plus, A.V. Club gave it a B+ so that's a good sign.

No, it's on a different station. Also, did you see Pandora's box on the table next to the helmet?

That was seen in the first trailer some months back.

It wasn't bad. I just really hate how they do special effects. Hoping they can step up the quality there. I look forward to more, however.

Having not read the comics, I really didn't have a problem with the pilot. I'll watch the show for what it is, not what the hardcore fan base wishes it were.

So, based on the above, I rate it better than SHIELD and Gotham while being on par with Arrow/Flash at the moment. It'll have to do better and possible mature as a show before it reaches Supernatural's league.

I feel like this deserves to be posted in here. I read it and I was pretty happy with what he was saying. Plus, I love Geoff Johns, if he is involved in any of the story of these series I am all about it.

Is this true? I skipped this episode because I had already watched the pilot, but if the ending is different I'll have to re-watch it...

See, I agree with you on it being better than SHIELD, but after only one episode, I think Gotham is currently better (but time will tell), and I dont watch Flash or Arrow, so cant really comment on those either.

For a first episode, I think it did OK, but we'll see how the series shapes up in the coming weeks.

TV shows often take a half-season or even full season to hit their stride. Arrow is a good example. Cheers and Friends are classic examples. Gotham has a chance to be really, really good but it's not quite there yet.

I thought the Constantine pilot was okay...we'll see where it goes from here.

I am going to give it a Season, which is a lot for me. I usually bail after the 3rd or 4th episode if I do not see any sort of improvement. But, I love Hellblazer and I feel like the guy playing Constantine did a really good job with his attitude.

Also, 4.3 Million is a pretty decent opening

It seems to me, that NBC knows exactly what kind of show to put into that time slot. I mean, during the early parts of the year, we have Hannibal right around the same time. As such, I don't think NBC would have put Constantine up if they didn't have confidence that the rest of this first season is a good fit for them.

Well Constantine isn't welsh, but apart from that nothing. Watched it this morning and really enjoyed it. I'm a big Hellblazer fan so was slightly worried about what they were going to do, but it worked well.

Yes. Talked to someone who watched it on tv and got the run down on the reedited ending;

Spoiler:
Instead of the girl coming into the bar, it was his friend that didn't die. He told him that the girl had left to go save people on her own, showed him the us map with all the scrying dots on it, and they talked about how they'd have to keep protecting her. Then there's the chat with the Angel again like the previous ending. Lastly at the end when he's walking down the alley and does the flaming hands thing, they added in a bit where it pans out and the scene becomes a sketch, and they show a girl from the asylum drawing it and surrounded by a bunch of other drawings of him.

I watched it earlier today and I enjoyed it.

The special effects were so-so, but nothing that I didn't expect from a major network show. I'm sure if it gets picked up for more seasons they'll get better.

I might even go so far as to say they'll get better even next week... They probably didn't use as much money on special affects as "normal" for a show like this on a mere pilot episode, since it may/may not survive

It definitely had all the hallmarks of a pilot. Next episode, Female lead gets swapped, special effects get upgraded...

I do believe we are getting a female recurring character that is not from the Pilot.

Would explain why the reedited ending deemphasised the gal.
