They are usually pretty good, and I'll watch them just to get a feel for the game. I mean, just in terms of Awesome Value, the trailer for Halo 2 Anniversay/Master Chief Collection is just great!

Generally I don't care for them but occasionally they're good.

I think they were more valuable back in the day when graphics were a bit, well pants. Quite often I found that a cinematic trailer really was necessary to help pull you into the world. This is especially true for something like an RTS, where you can feel very disconnected from the actual game, so a cinematic trailer could be your only sight on the ground.
Nowadays though, I find value from cinematic trailers more if they serve as an introduction to the world or tell a story in some form that can't really be told in the game, for whatever reason.

I think it depends on how and why it is done, but I have enjoyed some so I said yes.

They look pretty, but when your putting out a cinematic trailer rather then a game play trailer ehh. It just reminds me that you don't have a game yet or that it's not worth showing.

I enjoy them as cinematics, and don't expect them to tell me anything about actual gameplay.
Heck, showing gameplay might not mean anything either. Yes, that showcased battle against those enemies might look cool, but if the entire gameplay is fighting those same enemies over and over, the novelty is going to wear off quickly.

And as I look over the top of the turret and see twelve enemy tanks fifty yards away, someone hands me a cheese sandwich." |

I enjoy watching them, especially the ones for assassin's creed. I don't expect them to tell me anything about the game, but they are pretty to watch.

I tend to really like trailers actually. I skip a lot of cut scenes but trailers are, from certain companies like Blizzard or Riot, always a good watch.

I LOVE cinematic trailers. But I ALWAYS seek out gameplay footage (typically Lets Plays or silent walkthroughs) so I can make an informed judgement.
For me, Cinematic Trailers are merely an introduction to the game - a summary of the concept and narrative themes that the game is supposed to represent. An advert in other words.
A cool advert will get my attention and get me to consider the game, but if I don't like the gameplay I'm not going to get it merely on the strength of the trailer.

Yeah, I'm with the majority opinion here - they are fun to watch, but it'd be ludicrous to buy a game simply based on them.

No, waste of time in my opinion.
I just wanna watch gameplay if I am interested.

See Bromsy's line. They are great for showing off the themes and ideas of a game, but they will never be useful to determine whether or not a game is good as a final product.
