I live in Cleveland, Ohio, which has a fantastic library system - 3rd-biggest public library in the nation!

The "TechCentral" section in the basement has a free laser cutter - awesome stuff! I made a template for a bunch of markers based off of this print-friendly template. http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/385976.page

Both etching AND cutting them took about 1 hour and 20 minutes; so a bit longer than I had hoped.

Not an option for a lot of people, but it's worth checking to see if there's a "fab lab" in your area. They're publically-accessable facilities with CNC machines, 3D printers, etc. with some sort of payment plan for using the machines (membership, hourly fee, material fee, etc.)
