Ye, what is worth doing pre-shading the one when you use airbrush and prime it black and then you switch to white and keep it at 90 degrees and then you just layer . drybrush . highlight and what more?
then we have the one when you first prime it black white a GW can chaos black then you switch to brush and paint on thin layer of base color then useing shades , drybrush and then you start useing layers right?. paint out the highlight and edges

For small size units like immortal deathmarks, tyranids gargoyle , termagaunts, what way should you go then?. since i dont want to overwork them couse that job is for the bigger once. pre-shading or the underpainting i think its called?
Right me if i'm wrong. picked these two diffrent ways to go from this guy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wxc9WX2INp4&list=TLcIRFwPdRnvk

And for like Tyranid warriors, or Tyranids Guard, is it worth going the pre-shading with the airbrush then ?.
but some says that if you go pre-shading with the airbrush you should just use realy thinned down paints like Citadel's Shades but instead if you want like dark red you got mephisto red but you thin it down so it becomes liquid like Nuil Oil for exampel by useing leihman medium or what its called under Citadel's new paint range called Technical

So what do you say?

Depending on the army but I'd typically do a combination of both really. My imperial fists went as follow:

Prime white
Preshade with hull red from beneath
Airbrush yellow
Wash
Details, highlight so on and so forth.

I find with tanks I tend to do alot of shading with the airbrush, but with infantry I always end up using a wash or shade somewhere as it realy helps tie things together on a fairly small piece.

I am not a big fan of shading with an airbrush, and then layering over it with a thinned paint.

With a little bit of practice, it looks pretty good; however, if you have to go back and make corrections, you're screwed, because your flat surfaces will have gradients. Although it looks "pretty good", in the sense that from three feet away, the army looks better than one that's been basecoat and dunked in a wash, the finished product is not nearly close to a carefully painted miniature where there the edges have had a couple of layers of highlight -- never mind a bit of wet blending or feathering, and work with colors too detailed to use an airbrush for on a 25mm miniature.

I do zenithal highlighting as well and it has worked pretty well for my DE, even going back over it with black there is still a slight difference in shading that i think looks pretty good.
