Subject: The Full Title Of Star Wars Episode VII Is…
And with this, the STAR WARS marketing machine swings into full gear for what will be a fun,. tense, intriguing, and (probably sometimes) frustrating journey to the picture’s December 18, 2015 release.
Keep in mind, the 'classic' STAR WARS films didn't use Episode numbers on their posters (STAR WARS: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, STAR WARS: RETURN OF THE JEDI), but they did include Episode #s on the films themselves. I'm assuming a similar pattern is being repeated here (i.e. we’ll likely see STAR WARS EPISODE VII: THE FORCE AWAKENS on the opening crawl). Just conjecturing based on what I'm hearing of JJ's devotion to the Original Trilogy and so forth...

That does sound like a pretty lame-arse title to me.
Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

"LAAAME! NOOOOOO!"
It's a title. It isn't like the other Star Wars titles were somehow masterpieces.
Similarly, I assume we're going to see this kind of reaction to those reactions.
I think it's a lame-arse title because I think it's a lame-arse title, not simply because it's to do with the new SW. People who think that any criticism of the new SW is purely due to the fact that it IS the new SW are just as annoying as those who are criticising it for that reason.

To be fair, all of the Star Wars movie titles have been fairly lame. Nostalgia just tends to blur that out at times.

The title doesn't strike me as lame (nor do previous titles for Episodes 4 through 6), and seems to adhere to the established naming convention of short declarative statements that hint at the major plot point of the movie, so "The Force Awakens" seems fine to me. *shrug*

I think the original trilogy titles were fine. As for the prequels the only one I had problems with was Attack of the Clones sounding a bit B-Movie, but even that is better than "The Force Awakens".
It sounds like a bad fanfic.
I'm just going to assume this is going to end up like the new Star Trek, when you see it the first time it's all "WOW" but when you start to think about the film it just unravels completely.
How can the "Force Awaken"? It's an all encompassing energy that can be tapped into. You learn to use it, you don't just suddenly wake up and go full Jedi.

That's how I feel about it too.
Based on the experiences we all had with the prequels, I think people are looking for reasons to think these movies are going to suck so they latch on to whatever information there is and complain about it. I think it actually flows well the narrative structure that has been established:
The Phantom Menace: the Sith have returned and a poised to strike
Attack of the Clones: the clone army has been raised (by the Sith, no less) and the Clone Wars had begun
Revenge of the Sith: the Clone Wars end and the Sith take revenge on the Jedi by turning one of their best and destroying the rest
A New Hope: a young man emerges from a backwater system and leads the offensive against the Empire and succeeds, giving hope to the Rebellion
The Empire Strikes Back: after being temporarily set back, the Empire engages and nearly crushes the Rebellion and her heroes
Return of the Jedi: the Empire is defeated, Vader is redeemed, and Luke is the first new Jedi since the end of the Clone Wars
That leads us to The Force Awakens, which based on what plot information is available, seems to fit with the story of the movie.

The title of the original is just Star Wars, not Episode IV A New Hope.
The prequel titles weren't to bad, and were better than the movies themselves really. The Phantom Menace is a good name to set up the mystery and Revenge of the Sith has nice symetry with Return of the Jedi. Attack of the Clones sounds a bit like a TV show episode title but could have been worse. I think the biggest problem with this new title, assuming it is true, is that it sounds like it should be the title for the second or third, not an opener.

Ep 2 should have been "The Clone Wars". Which would have been a nice Easter egg harking back to Ep IV when Obi Wan tells Luke "Your father fought in the Clone Wars".

Maniac mansion. That's my response. My nostalgia goggles make me love that game....... then I play it, put it back on the shelf again and the world corrects itself
