Hi,

Is there a way to mitigate necron court with shakles spam?

I have played against a unit of 5 or 6 lords, all with shackles. A large squad of thunderwolf lords with ravenwing command squad was destroyed in 2 turns.
Is there any way to deal with it?

I can shoot them, run from them and ignore the unit. Maybe there are some more tactics to cope with them?

The options you listed are solid. That unit is narrowly focused on picking fights. So deny that. It's also slow so just keep away from it.

Also, send some walkers or a large blob into combat with it.

If your opponent is fielding stuff like that you have to wonder if he is tailoring his list to specifically beat yours, since that kind of unit doesn't work well in TAC lists.

I guess your opponent tricked you into thinking you could come out winning a fight with a unit like that. The look on your face when that didn't happen must have been priceless. Next time just keep away from it and then check the look on his face.

BTW, 5 lords is the maximum in any one court.

It is about not giving them targets.

I ran a decked up court with an overlord, 5 lords, nem and zand. Rolled Dante and his 15 assault banner things turn three, 30 death company turn four, 11 terminators with chaplain and librarian turn five. With suffering a single loss.

Just stay the hell away. Or die you choose!

My number one opponent plays Necrons, and he always takes Mind Shackle on his Lords. It really depends on which army you are playing on how you deal with this. The Necron player's goal with these Lords will be to find your nastiest IC or MC and get into CC. When I play my DE it is easy to avoid this by simply using my army's superior speed to avoid CC.

It looks like you are playing Space Wolves, so maybe instead of using your best units to fight his Lords use your larger units of Blood Claws to hold the Lords up and not allowing them to kill more valuable parts of your army. The Blood Claws will most likely get slaughtered, but just make sure its in a space where you have enough shooting ready for your next turn that you can tear up the Lord unit.

Hope this helps!

Shoot them.
The unit with that many lords wipes me out in combat anyway, so the mindshackles really do nothing.

But hey, thanks for paying those extra points, now you have less guys on the table.

Ah, the Royal Court Disco Inferno.
Glad to see people are still using it.

But yes, there are only two options when facing it: shoot it and/or play keep away.
You NEVER want to engage one in CC (it is the ultimate combat deathstar. I have never seen a RCDI lose once it gets into base).

By kiting it the entire game, your opponent will have 700+ points on the table which won't be able to do anything. Wipe out the rest of his no doubt meager forces and you should be able to control the game.

My first opponent I started playing with loves necrons and he would always put MMS on his lord. If you still want to go for CC with him and beat him at his own game, just take an HQ with LD 10 and kit him with weapons that dont cause instant death to you but retains an ap 2, high strength profile and have a 2+ 3++. Then just pray to the dice gods as you roll for MMS test as having LD 10 will have you failing it 50% of the time. That or just stay away and shoot like veryone else says (which does work). Nothings better than a vindacator pieplate finding a lords position..........

As other people said, shoot shoot shoot!

That is if you want to destroy them. As a necron player, I recommend just ignoring them and keeping your distance if the court is footslogging. Heck, even if they're in a transport, after they disembark you should usually still be able to adjust the position of your force in a way that limits their assault damage potential.

Gods? There are no gods. Merely existences, obstacles to overcome.
