So Im about to start painting my new army so I´m going to put updates here.
Its a White Scars Sparta themed army.

First model built is my counts-as Kor'sarro Kahn.

Please let me know what you think! More to come.

My Chapter Master with the Shield Eternal. I was unsure how to make his shield "stand out" from the other shields in the army so I decided to "armor up" the entire bike to give the impression that he himself is the Shield Eternal if that makes sense. Also put decorations all over the place.

It is Scibor resin patrs mixed with a bunch of GW stuff. The Right arm is going to hold a power lance but it has not arrived yet. I am not sure about the helmet either, I have a "normal" sparta helmet that the rest of the army will use, but I felt like he needed something "more" to stand out, am I wrong?

My WIP Librarian. He has a scratch built psychic hood but he is still missing the cables that are to be connected. Im not sure about the pose of the arm holding the staff either, I might change it to a more angular arm so the staff is more vertical. The shoulderpad needs to be in that pose so the purity seals still looks good.

I removed the guns because I dont think they will fit in anywhere, might try to move the back and attach them there, somehow, maybe put a stormbolter there. Might even put two guns instead of the lambda symbol on the front wheel and put ammobelts hanging on the sides.

Closeup of the hood, helmet and backpack icon.

Nice stuff man, very cool use of conversion parts and that up-armoured bike is awesome! Like the head on that guy too. Any idea what colour scheme you'll be going for?

Thanks!

I will be going for a red base for the armor. The helmet, shoulderpads, shield, greaves etc will be gold/bronze-ish to keep with the spartan theme. The Cloth will also be kept red, maybe white, not decided yet. The plumes on the helmet will be red on some and black on some I think. Thats the general colorscheme I'm going for. I will paint my first model soon, I just need to finish up my last Devilfish because I need to finish one project before I move on to the next.

Any tips on the colorscheme would be greatly appreciated.

An update. I assembled three of my troops to get started with the painting today. I was fortunate that a friend of mine had a bunch of Ravenwing leftover so I could buy them on the cheap, thats why some of the models are partly painted.

Closeup of the Chainglaives from Anvil Industries that will replace all the chainswords and in the fluff serve as the spear of a spartan.

Here are the three bikers, Two of them have their meltaguns mounted on the front, I think that it gives the bike a very agressive look. The meltaguns will all be mounted like this, the gravguns will be comib-gravs mounted on top of a bolter. No pics of that yet though.

I have also drilled out all the barrels, it just gives it a better look imho. Its a pain though

As always C&C.

Here is a WIP of my first bike marine. Im not sure I agree with the paintscheme just yet. The Red I can manipulate a bit with more/less hilights but what Im really struggling with is getting a bronze color that doesnt blend in with the red, the contrasts "should" be higher.
Another gripe Im having is the white plume, it looks flat, Ive put some thinned down blue wash on a white/grey base but I cant really get it to pop. I might just be overly critic of my own work.

The paint is
Pure Red Base
Ghennas Gold
Leadbelcher
Nuln Oil Wash
Sepia Wash
Aggrax Wash
Blazing Orange hilight
Gehenna hilight
Ironbreaker hilight

The white is, dark grey - light grey - white - blue wash - highlight white (might be switching this to a more "bluegray" base)

Im starting another marine tonight and trying to rectify all Ive learned and I will have to come back to this guy after Ive tried some stuff.

I have a question though, The right shoulderpad is now using a gold trim and red inlay, would it look better inverted, with a red trim and gold inlay?

As always, please comment so I can learn.

Looks good, very neat paintwork. All I'd do is add another colour to the bike, just to break up the large red areas. Maybe a white stripe or some white lines of text?

Yeah, Ive been thinking maybe to paint the side of the Winged front in white instead, and/or maybe the bottom plate in metal. What do you think would work best?

Actually, I was thinking a white stripe running along the large front plate, but the wings would do an equally good job of it

You could maybe paint the guns and the handlebars in a different colour.

Looking good though! Love those helmets.

ckig, yeah maybe paint them black instead of red might work, never thought of that. Thanks!

Paradigm, do you mean like on a sportscar?

Yeah, just like that. Single or double white stripes along the front plate would do it, although I like ckig's suggestions as well.

Yeah! Racing stripes! The only way to make red Wunz go even fasta!

I have done some mockups (excuse my lack of skills) for changing some colors around. Different color guns, eyes, brims. Please let me know how to improve the "red mess". Feel free to pick and choose whats good and bad.

Thanks!

The second one does a lot for it! I vote that.
