Hey there!

We decided to start playing blood bowl and I have been kicking around the idea of an orc team for a very long time. Here are the Blitzers I have 90% done.

The lighting kinda blew out the red on his gob.

I hope you like them, more to come when the figures arrive in the mail.

Also, I there is anyone in the Dayton Ohio area looking for a game Drop me a PM.

Thanks For looking!

Very nice. Always like to see blood bowl! If anyone is contemplating skaven I'd recommend kitbashing clan rats & gutter runners with crypt ghouls. Produce really creepy rat men. Takes some GS skill to pull off well & some real time but is totally worth it. Aside from that, if you can get ahold of the 3rd ed metal human team I think they are some of the nicest figs gw ever made.

Blood Bowl is an awesome game with a lot of room for really cool conversions like you've got going on. I think I currently have left: human, Amazon, lizsrdmen, orc, & skaven teams. Wish Ohio & Oregon were closer. My Stonehkrns (humans based on university of Texas longhorns) are always down to get a game in.

I wish! We only have a handful of people to play at the moment!

I'm glad you like them though, I'll be fixing their "fistpacks" handle nubs and basing them this week, and working on the line orks. I'll update as soon as I get some progress!

We have a player building a human team but I think he has settled on the impact minis human team.

Thanks again!

That's probably cheaper than acquiring a human metal team considering how expensive they can be. Thus far I have just one other regular player but I have 2 irregular players. I prefer running humans. I'm not sure what you have coming for orc players but I recommend just grabbing a box of plastic fantasy orcs & a box of 40k boyz. The whfb orcs don't have a while lot for armor on them but their arms are easier to convert for blood bowl. Also, if you have anyone local playing orcs buying a box of black orcs is good also. Black orcs are awesome when used right.

I've never had a troll do anything but be stupid or eat my gobbo lol.

I have a box of black orcs and a box a 40k boys, but my buddy built an ork army a while back and has arms everywhere so I'm hoping I can just use some of his to save money!

You should post pictures of your team.

I don't have any of my teams other than my humans & I need to take updated ones since I've now completed the entire team. I'll shoot some of each of my 3 completed teams tomorrow for ya. The orcs will be updated soon (to coin Shrek "it's on my to-do list") to have armor since some of the players are a bit light, especially the black orcs.

Until then, here's a link to some of my blood bowl photos (including a couple game in progress shots)

And for fun, my personal favorite pic

From the perspective of an ork player it looks like your human bit off more than he can chew!

I really dig that orange and white. I've never had the cajones to try and tackle that much white on a model so I commend you there!

Thanks! They look better now, but I've done work on them since those pics were taken. Griff Oberwald is now done, as is a mighty Zug figure (a rare one that matches the human team aesthetic in design!).

I really like those Blitzers! They sure look suitably beefy and armoured for the role, and you're definitely on the right way painting-wise! A couple of small suggestions, if I may:

- you may want to be a bit more restrained when it comes to adding washes to the models: This may be partly due to the photos, but I think the colours could be slightly more vibrant.

- just a tip for the coming models: Armour is a great way to differentiate the different types of players from one another, but using more dynamic poses also works really well! And using the various Orky kits in order to come up with suitably dynamic and silly models is a lot of fun, too!

- you were probably going to work on the bases anyway, but that's definitely the one area of the models that still needs attention! Allow me to share my quick recipe for Blood Bowl bases:

1.) Mix PVA glue, modeling sand and small pieces of cork, using a leftover piece of sprue. You want to make a thick paste with quite a bit of texture.

2.) Add the paste to the bases and make sure it's well distributed. Oh, and if you want to glue your models to the bases in a dynamic or more interesting way, you may want to make sure to add a piece of sprue to serve as a suitable point of attachment!

3.) Apply a black undercoat.

4.) Paint the base in brown (Scorched Brown or Vallejo's Charred Brown are great for this)

5.) Wash the entire base with Agrax Earthshade or a similar wash.

6.) Drybrush the base with different, lighter shades of brown and beige. Graveyard Earth is great for this. And if you use Bleached Bone as your final (light) drybrush, you should get quite a bit of contrast.

This will give you bases that look like a muddy mess -- just what a BB playing field should be like, right? If you want, you can now add bigger or smaller patches of static grass on top.

Hope this helps! Keep up the great work!

It certainly does help, the reason I haven't done any basing is I didn't know where to start with them!

I agree on the posing, I've been away from orks for a number of years and was unpleasantly surprised when I opened the box and found them to be closer to monopose than I would have liked. I considered cutting them at the waist and bending the upper body down but got intimidated by it.

The photography kinda blew out the colors but I was thinking a little edge highlighting couldn't hurt them!

Thanks for the tips and I'll be uploading images of the line irks soon!

EDIT: Ill upload them Now!

Looking good. My recommendation is greenstuff them some knuckle dusters to hide where you removed the weapons. That's what I did on my fantasy orcs that became blood bowlers.
