Pointless video is pointless...

You don't like things, People like things you don't like... You have opinions so this matters?

And Tyrant Guard have 'lawl shoulderpads' because they are supposed to block incomming fire, so extending their 'profile' to actually guard other creatures better...

You said Testicle in a video, It wasn't a funny observation, but thanks for looking down your nose at people who might like models you dislike.

Nope. GW would have to be aware of the community to do that.

See, the only part I disagree with is the criticism of the Tyranid models. Tyranids are (still), in my opinion, the best realised 'bug' alien race of miniatures on the market, because GW stick to some very basic design philosophies when making them.

The Tyrant Guard are meant to look like a wall of bone - there's not many ways to do that without giving them large bone structure over the back that, yes, would need to extend over the shoulders. They look exactly like they should.

The Mucaloid Spores look like a testicle? Have you not noticed all the sexual references in the Tyranids yet? The huge, veiny biocannons that spurt liquid at their opponents? The models like the Exocrine, Biovore and Pyrovore that are basically big dick-cannons? The Tervigon with it's massive, gaping peice of female anatomy? This isn't new. if you're just noticing it... welcome to the joke, I guess?

By the way, Tyranids have had testicles on the table since second edition. In this image, you can basically see that the 3rd edition Biovores had vagina cannons that fired testicles. It's hard to do a race like Tyranids without referencing sexual anatomy.

It isn't his fault, he flunked Anger Management.

But to address the OP, I believe someone, somewhere in GW is trolling, why else would there be no reference in any of the books to Knights being Titans, except one occurrence on the packaging?

This has got to be the quote of the day

But yeah, I don't really get the complaints with the Tyranids either. The Tyrant Guard is supposed to be.... something that Guards a Tyrant... their sole purpose in life is to be a bullet shield for a large creature, so of course they should be big and shield like, they are a living shield.

And I agree with Loki on the testicle thing (now there's a sentence I never imagined myself saying ). Spore mines have looked like testicles since forever.

Read up on 'post modernism'.
Some really wacky designs stand the test of time far better than run of the mill/safe ones.
By pushing boundaries in terms of aesthetics Gw are shaping the future of the wargaming models, it may just take us a little while to feel comfortable with these designs.

The quality of any model is entirely subjective, and there is little point in being annoyed if some likes a model you hate and vice-versa. But the water pot? Had no idea it existed, I think we can all agree on that one.

I don't think they are trolling...at least, I hope they aren't...after all, this is a company we're talking about. Maybe what you said is part of it, the way some units have good rules but bad models. If something has really good rules, there's less incentive to come up with a striking model because it'll just become the new auto-take unit.

As for things like the water pot, I think that's them pushing their luck and assuming there are people who'll buy anything they bring out. When the small-format rulebook came out, priced at an eye-watering £35, I joked in the News and Rumours thread that the next release would be a limited edition £10 list-writing pencil. The thing is, if you think about that...it doesn't seem 100% implausible.

Driven away from WH40K by rules bloat and the expense of keeping up, now interested in smaller model count games and anything with nifty mechanics.

There's nothing wrong with the water pot at all.
They're selling a mug in a presentation box for a £10 in time for Xmas. The name is a little tongue in cheek.
Nothing wrong with that.

Not a Tyranid player, but I like the Heldrake and Centurions. They are fun models to paint and really stand out on the tabletop.

Opinions and all, but the "trolling" title/pitch of the video is misleading. It's just a "5 GW products I don't like video". If, as you did in the video, go out of your way to say that these are your opinions and you, as in the case of the mugs, can't even say "why", there's no reason why this would somehow add up to a coherent argument to claim (much less prove) that GW is intentionally creating sub-par designs for whatever reasons (e.g. "trolling the community").

Indeed, proving (a) beyond doubt that these designs are objectively bad would be a necessary precursor to (b) claiming (much less arguing with conviction) that such objectively bad designs are bad on purpose.

If you can't do (a) and need to retreat to "all opinions, man", it's a logical fallacy (or trolling on your behalf) to make a claim (if only in the title) for (b).

So let's not talk about the video because giving a critique is hard and it's much easier just to throw opinions around?

I'm assuming the actual problem with some of these designs is perhaps the switch to digital modelling and perhaps the studio getting used to that. I mean certainly we've had a lot more beautiful releases from GW recently than we've had poor. I also think that quite a lot of the time, for the larger kits, the way GW paint them does not help in selling them. Certainly as soon as these kits hit the forums you see people working conversion and painting wonders on them.

Unless you can prove that GW is intentionally making poor kits rather than them failing to understand their customer base then I'm not really sure what the point is?

The Chaos releases are the most puzzling to me as they didn't fit with the existing aesthetic. Certainly if the DV chosen had become the standard aesthetic, in the form of a new CSM kit, then I think there would be less of a problem. Currently the Chaos Space Marine range is the most confused in my opinion. Too many differing interpretations for it to gel coherently. You've got the hard imperial vehicles clashing with the smoother Daemon Engines. Even the new Daemon engines clash quite substantially with the Defiler/Soul Grinder.

I honestly don't know why you bothered posting this if you are unwilling to talk about it.

If this was just troll bait, which it now seems that it is, we might as well have a mod lock it?

Runnin up on ya.

If comments from upper management during the Chapterhouse Studios lawsuit are anything to go by, yes, they are trolling their customer base because they literally think of their customers as walking wallets with no function in life other than to purchase their crap.

Paraphrased:
Q: So what is the hobby of your customers?
Merritt (head of IP at GW): To buy GW merchandise.

Kirby on the financial report (again paraphrased):
We don't do market research, we don't care what the market wants.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do
