I thought this would be a fun formation combination.

Honestly not sure where I am going with this basically I want to keep the top 3 formations because they generate a great number of Victory Points , D3 for the Scalpel for First Blood , 1 VP extra for the Talos squad when it kills a unit in combat.

I've got most of the army , but meh wanted to see peoples opinions until I invested in that many Talos, although their easy to scratch build somewhat.

I also thought of just taking a lot of Mandrakes instead of the Scalpel Squad and then maybe taking Urien or something boost up with his ability to give them 1 turn higher so they've got feel no pain.

I want to like the scalpel, but D3 instead of 1 for first blood is kind of a lot for 230 points.

How about...
Haemonculus as HQ.
Dark Artisan, Haemonculus, 5&4 Grotesques.
Drop defense line and skip mandrakes.

That gives you 2 fearless units of buffed Grotesques, a buffed unit of Talos/Cronos/warlord, and the blob of 5 Talos.

That's a very tough DE army coming at you.

I think that's the final list I'll try to build.

The Warlord is the Haemonoculus , who is pretty close to being almost indestructible, Vexxator mask gives -5 to initiative to anyone who's foolish enough to challenge him, 4+ to wound anything and 6s ID, he's got 3 + FNP, and automatically ignores the first instant death, plus 4+ It will not die. He's also got rage.

It's also got enough target saturation that you'll want to focus on the Reavers etc.. but if you do you ignore the immediate threats of that Talos formation and the Dark Artisan which is such a heavy build.

Everything has Heat Lances just because it's needed to deal with Transports like Wave Serpents.

If you find yourself needing some extra points you can drop some Heat Lances off the Reavers. With your squads that will be more on the front lines and assaulting you will want to Jink for that 3+ cover save and the Heat Lance will become ineffective.

The hammy in your Dark Artisan formation can't be your Warlord as he isn't a character in your primary detachment.

You should really try to scrounge up the 25 points to get the Cronos a Spirit probe.
Upping everybodys FNP that's within 12" of it is a really sound investment.

Also, where does it say that the formation hammy cant be the warlord?

He can. You can pick him as your warlord as that Formation Detachment would be your primary, it's a CAD. Remember the supplement and the codex are the same FACTION, you in fact cannot have an ALLY detachment that is Dark Eldar. I dunno why people think that..

I feel pretty good about this list, 5 Talos are a huge beat stick and there's not much that can take that unit it out in one go. Plus if the Warlord is within 12 they reroll 1s for FNP plus if the Cronos is with in 6 you get 4+ FNP.

Formation has to be secondary as stated above.

No it doesn't otherwise you wouldn't have the option to make the guy your warlord to begin with, like that's just literally in the formations rules and rules for the army. In fact you can not take a Formation and then take an Allied Detachment of the same faction, you have to take a normal detachment. It cannot actually be a allied detachment as this is against the battle forged rules.



Formations are detachments, you just pick which detachment has your Warlord in it and that becomes your primary detachment, but if you wanted to take another detachment it could not be a ally detachment.
