Gorgeous! That mace head upsets me though. Everything else is well done.

Looks awesome, though I can see why Blade has an issue with the mace head. I think a little more of the metal of the head showing and a little lass clean lines between "glow" and metal at the fitting between head shaft would have done it for him.

Now If I can just paint to that quality....

Hmm, I think I agree with you both, I'll try to blend the glow into the metal more...

Looks really great, as an IF player I approve. I'm also glad you didn't go OTT with the cape, thanks to GW that happens way too often. Embellishments don't NEED to be so garish they assault they eyes.

Love that Captain. The power maul sells it.

I'm glad you noticed
To me Imperial Fists are 'no nonsense' so I didn't want to go over the top with anything.

This looks great. The cape looks like a Scottish plaid a little (obviously not tartan though)

Very nice work, I do agree though that the power maul could do with some more OSL on the handle to ties it together and maybe some starker highlights on its head

Mace aside, it's a beautifully-understated modedl. Nice subtle attention to detail everywhere.

Which isn't to say I dislike the mace. It's just ... contrasting!

This Is Where the Fish Lives

You've knocked another one out of the park!

I know I say this probably every time you share your work on the Showcase, but I adore your models; you have a gritty, realistic look by staying true to the fantastical source material.

However, I will echo the comments about the mace head. It is well painted for sure but it doesn't "fit" with the tone of the model; it looks as if it is made out crystal like a World of Warcraft weapon (which is not an insult, by the way)!

Thank you all for the comments and kind words, it means a lot!

I see the power maul has folks divided... Personally, I'm happy with the colour. I knew I wanted to go turquoise before I started the model and it's come out pretty much as I intended. I do however agree with those who've said the 'glowy' part ends to abruptly against the haft – and let it never be said I cannot respond to constructive criticism... Behold!

Just wow, I always like seeing your work because to me you always seem to get the right contrast of colours, the red on the helmet here is a perfect example of your eye for detail

@ PastelAvenger, I can't claim credit for the choice of a red helmet (a symbol of an Imperial Fist veteran, as I learned before painting this model), but thanks for your comments and kind words.

I would love to paint something for you but I still have a long road with my Blood Angels, Orks and planned Dusk Raiders

@ Stormwall, it's the standard bearer from this kit (http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Space_Marines/Space_Marine-Infantry-and-Accessories/SPACE_MARINE_MkIV_COMMAND_SET.html) with an arm swap and the maul from a Dark Angels kit (I think?!)

Thanks. I think the maul is actually from a forgeworld terminator but, I now know what I am doing with some old models of mine in a few weekends.

Yes, I think that is where the maul came from. I think I swapped it from a left to a right hand.

I like the Maul, I think being a power weapon that is infused with power in an unnatural way, it should be jarring and contrasting.
This would be hard to capture in a way that is pleasing to everyone though, I think the observer can afford to add a bit of poetic licence and understand the context.
If am thinking why is that metal mace light blue it looks weird in my minds eye, but if I am thinking that powermaul is all kinds of badass and ready to go, it looks gak hawt
